ROBERT PATTINSON SAYS HE’D LOVE TO SHAVE HIS HEAD FOR A ROLE

Continuing the press tour for his upcoming film, “Remember Me”, Robert Pattinson sat down for an interview with the Maggie Rodriguez from “The Early Show” on CBS.   Rodriguez asked Rob if he would ever consider shaving his head for a role.  Rob laughed and nodded, saying that he would love to.  He then went on to comment on his hair, saying, “”I was so frustrated, the last few days promoting this, because I really need a haircut and I can’t get one because I’m working!”  He also compared his hair to the wig that Jimmy Fallon wears in the “Robert Is Bothered” sketches, claiming that Fallon’s wig is “less wig-like than my own hair.”

CATALINA SANDINO MORENO TALKS “ECLIPSE”: ‘I WOULD RATHER BE AN EVIL VAMPIRE’

from examiner.com:

Examiner.com got to to chat with Academy Award Nominee Catalina Sandino Moreno at The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Official New York Oscar Night celebration. The star-studded cocktail reception took place at GILT Restaurant at the New York Palace Hotel. Catalina plays Maria in “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” which will be in theaters on June 30th, 2010.

Q: I wouldn’t be a good reporter unless I asked about your huge role in Eclipse.

Catalina: It’s not huge though, It’s very very little, very very very small, but it’s a huge movie, and it’s fun and it was great, and the people that I met they were lovely. I didn’t meet everybody, but the people that I met they were just fantastic, so I’m very exicted to be apart of that. It’s huge.

Q: In the books, Maria is very prominent. She’s the evil vampire.

Catalina: I know. I love that she was evil, I love that she had to do something evil. You know If I was going to be a vampire, I would rather be an evil vampire that does crazy stuff than a nice vampire. So yeah, she was so much fun though, she was great.

Q: Were you a fan of the books before you were cast?

Catalina: No, I saw the movies. I was a fan of the films. Chris Weitz is amazing and I loved the first and second “Twilight,” so hopefully this one will be amazing too. It’s going to be great. So I’m really excited they are releasing it very soon. I know it’s crazy they move so fast.

OK…I’ll have to admit that I would probably cry like a baby if Robert Pattinson shaved his head.  I love his crazy hair.  The buzz cut that he got between “Twilight” and “New Moon” wasn’t too bad, but I love the unruly hair that he has.

I’m thinking that I’ll break my Jay Leno boycott (I’m totally Team Conan) to catch Kristen’s appearance.  If for nothing else, I like to see how she’s growing into her fame and how she incrementally improves her composure with each interview.

The interview with Catalina Sandino Moreno just makes me more and more ready to see “Eclipse” and I’m really looking forward to the trailer dropping this weekend.  Knowing that she’s a part of Jasper’s back story really gets me psyched because I am looking forward to his and Rosalie’s stories being told in the movie.

Do you have DIRECTV? Will you be getting the movie from their on-demand feature this weekend?

CHRIS WEITZ WISHES HE COULD CUT THE FROLICKING VAMPIRE SCENE FROM “NEW MOON”

In a recent interview with BuzzSugar, “New Moon” director Chris Weitz dishes on his favorite scene from the film, responding to questions about Rob and Kristen’s relationship, what he wishes that he could have left on the cutting room floor, and questions about the possibility of directing “Breaking Dawn”.

There are lots of different editions of the New Moon DVD. Which bonus features are you particularly excited about?

I’m excited that my voice will finally be heard! For me, the fun thing was doing the commentary with Peter Lambert, my editor, because it kind of re-created the atmosphere in the cutting room. Peter’s a really funny guy, and we were able to delve into not only the behind-the-scenes moments, but to explain why certain things were shot or cut together in certain ways. So that, for me, was the most fun.

When you go back and watch it again, are there things you’d like to change if you could?

I would like to never have shot Rob and Kristen running through the forest and Kristen’s just turned into a vampire. Because everybody always laughs and it makes me feel terrible. [Laughs] I would have shot it a different way so it wouldn’t get that response. But otherwise, I’m very happy with things.

What was your favorite scene to shoot in New Moon?

I’m very fond of the memories that a lot of the scenes invoke in me. My favorite scene is probably somewhere between the very last scene, and the cliffhanger that it’s left on, and the scenes in Italy. Just the experience shooting those scenes was so magnificent. We were in this beautiful hillside town in Tuscany, and going home to fresh-made pasta every night, and surrounded by thousands of fans of the series while we were shooting it. I know I’ll never experience anything like that ever again.

We still don’t know who will be directing Breaking Dawn, but what’s your take on the rumors that it will likely be two movies, possibly in 3D?

3D seems to be the new thing that everything has to be. I think the good thing about 3D is that it can lend tremendous depth to a picture, and really make it extraordinarily lush, visually. And also that it gets people to go out to the theater. Film directors want people to see things in the theater, on the big screen, at least the first time. So that’s a good thing. As for the book being broken up into two films, I think it’s a good idea. There’s so much material in the final book that I think it’s warranted.

How would you direct Breaking Dawn?

Very carefully, because I think that you want to deliver the fans a faithful version of the book that they love. Yes, there’s a lot of extraordinary goings-on. So it’ll have to be done carefully.

BREAKING DAWN RUMORS ARE FALSE

from indyposted.com:

Reports are going wild on the Internet that the final ‘Twilight’ installment will be in two films, according to MTV. The studio is staying quiet and not leaving comments.

The final installment in the ‘Harry Potter’ films will be split into two parts to fit everything in and now ‘Twilight’ fans have suspected for a while that the final ‘Breaking Dawn’ will be the same way.

A representative for Summit Entertainment told MTV last month that “no decision has been made” after Deadline Hollywood ran a story about ‘Breaking Dawn’ being split into two films.

DAVID SLADE’S SCARFDOG PRINTS

from latimes.com:

Fans of David Slade, the acclaimed director of cult hits including the psycho-sexual thriller “Hard Candy” and the graphic novel noirish vampire flick “30 Days of Night,” might be shocked to discover that the man has a sweeter side. While working on his third film, “Twilight 3: Eclipse,” the filmmaker has somehow found the time to fill his Fubear Studios website with intriguing illustrations and downright freaky animated films. He also has learned the art of giclee printing. Among his first available works: a quartet of prints starring Scarfdog and Duck, shown above.

Though they appear to be ideal for kids’ rooms, there is an adult story behind these cheery characters. “Scarfdog loves Duck,” Slade explains in a statement on the back of his signed, limited-edition 8.5-by-11-inch prints. “When Duck passes, she looks straight ahead, not at him. Scarfdog can only dream of a day sometime when his unrequited love is met.”

STEPHENIE MEYER AND J.K. ROWLING WERE ASKED TO CO-PRESENT AN OSCAR?!

As we pointed out in another article, Oscar producers are trying to hit a younger audience and have “Twilight” mega-stars Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner presenting an award at this Sunday’s ceremonies.  According to an article about the show on the L.A. Times website, they also asked Stephenie Meyer and J.K. Rowling to co-present an award.  According to the article, Rowling declined due to scheduling conflicts and Meyer does not work on Sundays, in observance of the Sabbath.

MUSE WILL NOT BE ON “ECLIPSE” SOUNDTRACK

from contactmusic.com:

The British band has contributed songs to the first two Twilight films, and even credited the franchise with introducing their music to a new teen audience.

A third track, which was to be featured in the upcoming Eclipse film, has now been pulled from the soundtrack – but the trio insist they are not angry with Meyer.

Drummer Dominic Howard tells MTV, “It’s nothing to do with Stephenie; she’s totally cool. It’s the people in the movie business, completely outside of the writers and the creative types. The non-creative types, I suppose, are the people who are quite hard to deal with in Hollywood, so it didn’t work out.”

But the group still plans to release the untitled love song.

ROBERT PATTINSON ON “THE DAILY SHOW WITH JON STEWART”

In case you missed it, here’s Rob’s interview with Jon Stewart on “The Daily Show” as he promoted “Remember Me”.  They discussed what it’s like dealing with crowds of screaming fans, the Twilight Saga, among other things.  Enjoy!

I have to agree with Chris on wishing that the “frolicking vampire” scene had been left out of the movie.  It was pretty cheesy.   It’s interesting to note that Chris doesn’t mention Rob, Kristen, or Taylor participating in the audio commentary.  I assumed that they would be a part of it like on the first movie, but maybe not.

David Slade’s pictures are really cute.  They would make a great addition to a kid’s room and the price is quite reasonable.

I think that it’s interesting that they asked Stephenie Meyer and J.K. Rowling to present.  I wonder what their reaction was when she told them that she couldn’t due to her religious beliefs?

I’m bummed that Muse will not be making an appearance on the “Eclipse” soundtrack and I’m sure that Stephenie Meyer is as well.

I absolutely loved Rob’s interview with Jon Stewart!  He seemed very relaxed for this one.

“NEW MOON” DELETED SCENE – “BOB’S BIKES”

“ECLIPSE” MARKETING: UP AND BUZZING — FOR A GOOD REASON

from thewrap.com:

It wouldn’t be a stretch to suggest that Summit Entertainment could drop “Eclipse” into theaters, practically unannounced, and expect brisk business. But despite its swooning, demographically homogenous and well-connected fan base, the film has some hurdles to clear if it hopes to match the more than $705 million that the first sequel, “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” made in theaters last November.

For one thing, this is the first “Twilight” movie to come out in the traditional summer blockbuster season. By its June 30 release date, “Eclipse” will already be crowded by heavyweights such as” Iron Man 2,” “Sex and the City 2,” “Shrek Forever After” and “Toy Story 3.”

And contrary to conventional wisdom, sequels are not always a sure thing – especially No. 3. While there is little chance of “Eclipse” turning into a “Godfather III” flop, many a franchise has reached its sell-by date before its last offering.

ACTION VS. ACTING: TAYLOR LAUTNER AND ROBERT PATTINSON’S DIFFERENT CAREER PATHS

from ivillage.com:

No one in Hollywood is hotter right now than Twilight actors Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. Producers are clamoring to put them in movies, and the two actors — Pattinson, 23 and Lautner, 18 — can pretty much make any kind of film they choose. So it’s interesting that their post-Twilight movie careers are shaping up to be so drastically different.

Lautner, 18, has just signed on for an action thriller called Abduction, about a man who discovers his own baby picture on a missing persons website. Lautner will also be playing a super-powered secret agent fighting terrorists in the film Max Steel, a martial arts fighter who has to save his kidnapped friends on vacation in Cancun, and the titular body-stretching superhero in Stretch Armstrong. Notice a pattern here? Lautner is definitely gunning to be the next big action hero, following a path similar to the one Will Smith took in the mid-90s.

KRISTEN STEWART AND DAKOTA FANNING IN NEW TV SPOT FOR “THE RUNAWAYS”

Check out the new TV spot for Kristen and Dakota’s upcoming film, “The Runaways”, opening  in theaters on March 19.

Yay!!!  I’m so excited to see the deleted scene.  I am so ready to get my hands on a DVD and watch all of the extended footage.  I would also like to see Bella rescuing them from the trash…how did she get them into the back of the truck in the first place?!

Do you think that Summit needs to keep up their A-game with the marketing for “Eclipse”?   Could the other summer blockbusters keep “Eclipse” from being as successful as many expect it to be?

I wish I had $3M in spare change – I would totally buy that house.  To own the home where all members of the Cullen Coven were actually present at one time would be so freakin’ awesome! It’s  a nice house, too!

I have to admit that I’m a bit surprised that the folks at ReelEmpire had to ask their readers about the girl on the back of the motorcycle.

Does the f.y.e. “New Moon” DVD offer appeal to you?  I’ll have to pass on that one.  The closest store to me is about 25 miles and it’s honestly not worth the drive for a lip gloss when I can go get my DVD at the Target 2 miles from my house.

The look at Taylor’s and Robert’s career paths is interesting.  I agree with their assessment that there could very well be Oscar buzz in Robert’s future if he continues and I also love the parallel to Johnny Depp’s career.  He made some strange choices along the way, but it certainly didn’t hurt him.  Throw in the fact that Depp wanted a music career before he got into acting and there are even more similarities.

Again, I am so looking forward to seeing “The Runaways”!  It will be nice to see a different side of Kristen and Dakota, not to mention the story of a group of women who changed the world of rock and roll for women.

What do you think of today’s Twilight Saga news?  We’d love to hear from you in our forum!

FANS FLOCK TO BURLINGAME CONVENTION

from insidebayarea.com:
“Twilight” is kind of a big deal, in case you hadn’t noticed — particularly to teen girls and young women.

Take Paige Wraa-Noveli, who at 6 months old had to undergo a split liver transplant, the first ever performed at UCLA Medical Center, her mom said.

“She wasn’t supposed to make it to a year,” said Deborah Noveli, Paige’s mother. “Then she wasn’t supposed to make it 2 years, then 5.”

When Paige turned 18 on Tuesday, she knew exactly what she wanted for her birthday: tickets to this weekend’s “Twilight” convention, which runs through Sunday at the Hyatt Regency in Burlingame.

Hundreds of devoted girls and women — or “Twi-hards,” as some attendees called themselves — turned out Friday for the convention’s first day, excited to meet cast members, buy special merchandise, get inside scoops on the books and films and spend the day with fellow fans.

WHY “TWILIGHT” FANS MIGHT ENJOY WHAT “THE WOLFMAN” HAS TO OFFER

from mtv.com:
Universal Pictures’ revival of “The Wolfman” was unleashed into theaters everywhere today, and while the Benicio Del Toro-starring film is geared towards horror fans and monster movie enthusiasts, it might appeal to another unexpected crowd… “Twilight” fans.

Now, I’m not suggesting that “The Wolfman” is a teenage romance, nor is it necessarily appropriate for the younger viewers that flocked to “New Moon” in droves. What I am saying, however, is that there are certain aspects about the new thriller that could tickle the fancy of Team Jacob members everywhere.

For starters, this is a movie about werewolves. There are some important differences between the werewolves in “The Wolfman” and the shape-shifting creatures of “The Twilight Saga,” such as the former’s tendency to brutally eviscerate their victims and the latter’s knack for looking really, really good without a shirt. But if part of your “Twilight” craving stems from your interest in werewolves, this is the flick for you.

Deadline.com created a significant amount of buzz reporting the old news that Summit Entertainment was considering breaking Stephanie Meyer’s fourth novel into two films. The report also noted the studio would be looking for “high end” directors (really? like they hadn’t tried and accomplished that before with Chris Weitz and David Slade?). This prompted Summit Entertainment to issue the following statement:

“No decision has been made and as we have said all along we are continuing to work with Stephenie Meyer to bring Breaking Dawn to the big screen.”

Warning – the content is of a mature nature.  You should be able to purchase your own tickets for Rated-R movies to view them.

With the pending release of “New Moon” on DVD, the buzz on “Breaking Dawn”, and speculation on when a trailer for “Eclipse” will come out, there’s plenty to talk about in the Twilight World.

What do you think of the speculation that “Breaking Dawn” will be shot in 3-D?  I honestly don’t know that it would really benefit the film at all.  There’s very little action and so much is set inside of the Cullen house, the house at Isle Esme, and the cottage that I don’t know that it’s worth it.  The confrontation in the clearing with The Volturi and scenes of Bella learning to fight might be worth it, but that’s all I can think of at this point.

Have you seen “Valentine’s Day” yet?  I’m hoping to see it soon.  Taylor is certainly the new “it boy” in Hollywood these days, picking up a new role to celebrate his birthday.  I really do enjoy seeing all of their success, which is ironic considering how the critics slam their acting and the Twilight movies.

What do you think of the magazine scans of Robert?  I’ll have to admit that I was taken by surprise with the Details scans.  I am sooooo looking forward to “Remember Me” coming out next month.  I am really looking forward to that movie (and I’m pretty darn sure that Summit will have the “Eclipse” trailer ready to go along with it).

TWILIGHT SAGA NEWS JANUARY 14TH

Author: ifellhard | Filed under: Movie News, News Blog

‘THE ONION’ SPOOFS ‘TWILIGHT’

The popular satire news website ‘The Onion’ recently reported a satirical article with a reference to ‘Twilight’ and vampires.  TheOnion.com reports:

Acknowledging years of marital dissatisfaction and a noticeable increase in her vampire husband’s weight, 43-year-old Sara Pastor told reporters Thursday that she often seeks solace by losing herself in the escapist fantasy of the Twilight novels.

The New Orleans resident said it’s been ages since her husband, 834-year-old Andrei Pastor, bought her flowers, took her dancing, or appeared at her second-story window and charmed her into allowing him inside. According to Sara, she purchased the first book in Stephenie Meyer’s young-adult vampire romance series 14 months ago, while waiting for her husband to pick her up from the airport, and has taken refuge in the novels ever since.

“Edward is so romantic,” said Pastor, referring to Edward Cullen, Twilight’s vampire hero. “He loves [17-year-old protagonist] Bella so much that he runs away from her to protect her. My husband, on the other hand, hasn’t posed any kind of danger to me in years.”

ASHLEY GREENE CHATS WITH MICHAEL SHEEN FOR ‘INTERVIEW’ MAGAZINE

Ashley Greene recently chatted with Michael Sheen about her past, present, and future for ‘Interview’ magazine.  In the article, Ashley talks about graduating early from high school and moving from Florida to LA at the age of 17 and how she originally planned to study law and psychology before deciding to become an actress.  She talks of how she got the role of Alice Cullen and about her first leading role in the upcoming film, ‘The Apparition.”  She also talks about the difficulty that she had adjusting to her new-found fame once ‘Twilight’ exploded onto the scene.

It was more frightening for my mother and father than it was for me. I have a certain way of thinking where I see something, and I know that I want it and I make up my mind—and that’s pretty much all there is to it. It was like, This is what I want to do, and I’m going, and everything’s going to work out. I’m going to be an actress. There was no way around it. My parents, on the other hand . . . Obviously, they had a lot of long talks and sleepless nights. I was always a good kid, so they went out on a limb. But they did say, “If you go out to L.A. and start becoming this wild child, then you have to come back home and go to college.”

IS UMA THURMAN TOO OLD FOR ROBERT PATTINSON?

iVillage.com has an article that questions whether 39 year-old Uma Thurman is too old to co-star with 23 year-old Robert Pattinson as a love interest in the upcoming film, ‘Bel Ami’.

Posts all over the web seem to think Thurman is a tad too old — 16 years older, but who’s counting? — for the hot young Pattinson, and that is even though Thurman, entering her fourth decade on this planet, is a real head-turner by any standard. But the age difference isn’t any more extreme than the May-December romance between Jeff Bridges and Maggie Gyllenhaal — his 60 to her 32 — in Crazy Heart.

KELLAN LUTZ GETS TOUGHER COMPETITION FOR ‘CONAN’ ROLE

The leading role of “Conan” could be slipping a bit further from Kellan Lutz’s grasp. While earlier report has placed the Emmett Cullen of the “Twilight Saga” series in the final two actors in the run for the part, Deadline Hollywood (DH) has come out with the news that Nu Image/Millennium and partner Lionsgate Films have expanded the list into three actors.

Mike Fleming of DH reported that the studios have decided to audition “another unnamed but better established actor” before they make any decision for the part once made famous by Arnold Schwarzenegger.

‘ECLIPSE’ MADE PETER FACINELLI CRY

‘Twilight: Eclipse’ made Peter Facinelli cry. The actor who plays Carlisle Cullen in Summit Entertainment’s hugely popular vampire series “The Twilight Saga” also plays Dr. Fitch on Showtime’s hit show “Nurse Jackie”. Bouncing back and forth between schedules was reportedly so exhausting that it led to a bravura emotional performance on the show.

MORE SPECULATION ABOUT ROBERT PATTINSON AS SPIDEY

The Deadbolt.com comments on the recent rumors about Robert Pattinson assuming the role of Peter Parker/Spiderman after Tobey Maguire announced that he would not return to the role.

First of all, this sounds too convenient. Since the departure of Raimi and Maguire from Spider-Man is fresh news, it’s too easy to start a rumor aboutRobert Pattinson in the role of Peter Parker. Since Sony wants to take Parker back to his teen roots, the Pattinson – Peter Parker speculation looks like a knee-jerk reaction for the sake of a good Pattinson story.Robert Pattinson is obviously the hottest teen demo star on the planet, so it’s obvious his name would be mentioned. Who knows, anything’s possible, but to us this sounds like nothing more than, “Hey, there’s an opening for Peter Parker. Let’s throw the nameRobert Pattinson on the Spider-Man wall and see if it sticks because Pattinson is so popular.”

There’s no doubt that we’ll also see news of Taylor Lautner as Spider-Man real soon.

DAVID SLADE TWITTER UPDATE

‘Eclipse’ director David Slade recently tweeted a cryptic message about a New Year’s gift.  Many speculated about whether this was Twilight-related or personal.  Two weeks into the new year, he posted this tweet:

New Year’s gift was cancelled. Out of my hands unfortunately. I tried. On another note our edit is driving towards the finish line…

Given the reference to an ‘edit’, I think that it’s safe to assume that the gift was for Twilight fans.  Perhaps he was trying to get a teaser trailer ready and Summit wouldn’t sign off?  Hmmm….

Wow!  Lots of Twilight news to share today.  I love the article from ‘The Onion’ – that site cracks me up!

I am really looking forward to the release of ‘The Runaways’.  I have been psyched about that film since I heard about it.

My take on iVillage’s question…NO!  Uma Thurman is not too old for that role.  My logic…I’ll be 39 next year and I’m not too old for him.  Ha!Ha!Ha!!!

I think that it’s awesome that the Quileutes are taking part in the Seattle TwiCon.  Are any of you going to be there?  If so, we’d love to hear from you about it!

I like what The Deadbolt had to say about the Robert Pattinson-Spidey rumors.  I think that it’s just rumor and throwing his name into the mix certainly makes things interesting!

What do you think about the gift that didn’t happen from David Slade?  Do you think that we’ll be seeing an ‘Eclipse’ teaser anytime soon?

Chime in and share your thoughts about today’s news in our forum! We would love to hear your thoughts and opinions!

STEPHENIE MEYER RESPONDS TO RUMORS SURROUNDING BREAKING DAWN “DRAMA”

There were rumors recently swirling around cyberspace that Stephenie Meyer was against splitting Breaking Dawn into two films.  The author posted a message on her personal website today to address the issue and share her opinion with her fans.

January 12, 2010

Just a quick note on the subject of the Breaking Dawn film: there is no drama over whether the book should be one movie or two. My personal feeling is that it would be very difficult to cram the whole story into one movie (as I’ve said in many interviews previous to this), but if a great way of doing that surfaces, I’m all for it. Two or one, whichever way fits the story best is fine by me, and everyone I’ve spoken with at Summit seems to feel the same way. We’re all excited to move forward on this, and we are slowly and surely getting there. I know people are anxious for news, and so sometimes gossip gets fabricated to stir things up, but there’s no basis to this particular story.

“ECLIPSE” WILL HAVE ACTION AND A FEW LOVE SCENES

As more and more interviews start coming out with the actors talking about “Eclipse”, it’s really starting to look like Summit is going to pull in more of the testosterone demographic this time around.   Reports are coming out that “Eclipse” will focus more on the fight scenes and less on the love scenes.

Ashley Greene was quoted in an interview saying, “I think it’ll be different. I think it’s going to be a battle between the studio and the director, and it’s going to be a hard balance, ‘cause I think he’s… a little more focused on it being real and maybe it being gorier and a little dark and kind of dramatic.”

TWILIGHT: MODERN WARFARE 2 TRAILER

The folks over at G4’s X-Play have come up with a new Twilight spoof combining “Twilight” and “Modern Warfare 2″.  Check out “Sparkle” and “Moonbeam” in this spoof.

What do you think of this installment of Twilight Saga news? Join us in the forum and share your thoughts!  We’d love to hear your opinions!

It’s nice to know that Stephenie isn’t trying to pull rank on the folks at Summit and that she can be so gracious.  Honestly, if I were in her shoes, I’d have a hard time not having a big ol’ opinion about things!

I’m so excited that the cover art for the DVD has been updated – the movie is that much closer to release!  I’m ready to start comparison shopping to get the most bang for my buck (and a digital download to take the movie with me on my iPod!).

I’m really torn on hearing that “Eclipse” will be more guy-friendly with the action scenes.  While I’m really ready to see the Cullens and the Quileutes kick some newborn a**, I also want to see some ooey-gooey lovebird stuff between Edward and Bella.  Granted, there really isn’t a whole lot in the book.  But…what is in the book is definitely good stuff even if it is PG-13.
