TWILIGHT SAGA NEWS JANUARY 14TH

‘THE ONION’ SPOOFS ‘TWILIGHT’

The popular satire news website ‘The Onion’ recently reported a satirical article with a reference to ‘Twilight’ and vampires.  TheOnion.com reports:

Acknowledging years of marital dissatisfaction and a noticeable increase in her vampire husband’s weight, 43-year-old Sara Pastor told reporters Thursday that she often seeks solace by losing herself in the escapist fantasy of the Twilight novels.

The New Orleans resident said it’s been ages since her husband, 834-year-old Andrei Pastor, bought her flowers, took her dancing, or appeared at her second-story window and charmed her into allowing him inside. According to Sara, she purchased the first book in Stephenie Meyer’s young-adult vampire romance series 14 months ago, while waiting for her husband to pick her up from the airport, and has taken refuge in the novels ever since.

“Edward is so romantic,” said Pastor, referring to Edward Cullen, Twilight’s vampire hero. “He loves [17-year-old protagonist] Bella so much that he runs away from her to protect her. My husband, on the other hand, hasn’t posed any kind of danger to me in years.”

ASHLEY GREENE CHATS WITH MICHAEL SHEEN FOR ‘INTERVIEW’ MAGAZINE

Ashley Greene recently chatted with Michael Sheen about her past, present, and future for ‘Interview’ magazine.  In the article, Ashley talks about graduating early from high school and moving from Florida to LA at the age of 17 and how she originally planned to study law and psychology before deciding to become an actress.  She talks of how she got the role of Alice Cullen and about her first leading role in the upcoming film, ‘The Apparition.”  She also talks about the difficulty that she had adjusting to her new-found fame once ‘Twilight’ exploded onto the scene.

It was more frightening for my mother and father than it was for me. I have a certain way of thinking where I see something, and I know that I want it and I make up my mind—and that’s pretty much all there is to it. It was like, This is what I want to do, and I’m going, and everything’s going to work out. I’m going to be an actress. There was no way around it. My parents, on the other hand . . . Obviously, they had a lot of long talks and sleepless nights. I was always a good kid, so they went out on a limb. But they did say, “If you go out to L.A. and start becoming this wild child, then you have to come back home and go to college.”

IS UMA THURMAN TOO OLD FOR ROBERT PATTINSON?

iVillage.com has an article that questions whether 39 year-old Uma Thurman is too old to co-star with 23 year-old Robert Pattinson as a love interest in the upcoming film, ‘Bel Ami’.

Posts all over the web seem to think Thurman is a tad too old — 16 years older, but who’s counting? — for the hot young Pattinson, and that is even though Thurman, entering her fourth decade on this planet, is a real head-turner by any standard. But the age difference isn’t any more extreme than the May-December romance between Jeff Bridges and Maggie Gyllenhaal — his 60 to her 32 — in Crazy Heart.

KELLAN LUTZ GETS TOUGHER COMPETITION FOR ‘CONAN’ ROLE

The leading role of “Conan” could be slipping a bit further from Kellan Lutz’s grasp. While earlier report has placed the Emmett Cullen of the “Twilight Saga” series in the final two actors in the run for the part, Deadline Hollywood (DH) has come out with the news that Nu Image/Millennium and partner Lionsgate Films have expanded the list into three actors.

Mike Fleming of DH reported that the studios have decided to audition “another unnamed but better established actor” before they make any decision for the part once made famous by Arnold Schwarzenegger.

‘ECLIPSE’ MADE PETER FACINELLI CRY

‘Twilight: Eclipse’ made Peter Facinelli cry. MORE SPECULATION ABOUT ROBERT PATTINSON AS SPIDEY

The Deadbolt.com comments on the recent rumors about Robert Pattinson assuming the role of Peter Parker/Spiderman after Tobey Maguire announced that he would not return to the role.

First of all, this sounds too convenient. Since the departure of Raimi and Maguire from Spider-Man is fresh news, it’s too easy to start a rumor aboutRobert Pattinson in the role of Peter Parker. Since Sony wants to take Parker back to his teen roots, the Pattinson – Peter Parker speculation looks like a knee-jerk reaction for the sake of a good Pattinson story.Robert Pattinson is obviously the hottest teen demo star on the planet, so it’s obvious his name would be mentioned. Who knows, anything’s possible, but to us this sounds like nothing more than, “Hey, there’s an opening for Peter Parker. Let’s throw the nameRobert Pattinson on the Spider-Man wall and see if it sticks because Pattinson is so popular.”

There’s no doubt that we’ll also see news of Taylor Lautner as Spider-Man real soon.

DAVID SLADE TWITTER UPDATE

‘Eclipse’ director David Slade recently tweeted a cryptic message about a New Year’s gift.  Many speculated about whether this was Twilight-related or personal.  Two weeks into the new year, he posted this tweet:

New Year’s gift was cancelled. Out of my hands unfortunately. I tried. On another note our edit is driving towards the finish line…

Given the reference to an ‘edit’, I think that it’s safe to assume that the gift was for Twilight fans.  Perhaps he was trying to get a teaser trailer ready and Summit wouldn’t sign off?  Hmmm….

Wow!  Lots of Twilight news to share today.  I love the article from ‘The Onion’ – that site cracks me up!

I am really looking forward to the release of ‘The Runaways’.  I have been psyched about that film since I heard about it.

My take on iVillage’s question…NO!  Uma Thurman is not too old for that role.  My logic…I’ll be 39 next year and I’m not too old for him.  Ha!Ha!Ha!!!

I think that it’s awesome that the Quileutes are taking part in the Seattle TwiCon.  Are any of you going to be there?  If so, we’d love to hear from you about it!

I like what The Deadbolt had to say about the Robert Pattinson-Spidey rumors.  I think that it’s just rumor and throwing his name into the mix certainly makes things interesting!

What do you think about the gift that didn’t happen from David Slade?  Do you think that we’ll be seeing an ‘Eclipse’ teaser anytime soon?

Chime in and share your thoughts about today’s news in our forum! We would love to hear your thoughts and opinions!
