Tiger Lily was one of my favorites reads of summer 2013. It was heartbreakingly beautiful. I tried to mirror the emotions I felt as I read the book with this playlist.

About Tiger Lily:

Before Peter Pan belonged to Wendy, he belonged to the girl with the crow feather in her hair. . . .

Fifteen-year-old Tiger Lily doesn’t believe in love stories or happy endings. Then she meets the alluring teenage Peter Pan in the forbidden woods of Neverland and immediately falls under his spell.

Peter is unlike anyone she’s ever known. Impetuous and brave, he both scares and enthralls her. As the leader of the Lost Boys, the most fearsome of Neverland’s inhabitants, Peter is an unthinkable match for Tiger Lily. Soon, she is risking everything—her family, her future—to be with him. When she is faced with marriage to a terrible man in her own tribe, she must choose between the life she’s always known and running away to an uncertain future with Peter.

With enemies threatening to tear them apart, the lovers seem doomed. But it’s the arrival of Wendy Darling, an English girl who’s everything Tiger Lily is not, that leads Tiger Lily to discover that the most dangerous enemies can live inside even the most loyal and loving heart.

From the New York Times bestselling author of Peaches comes a magical and bewitching story of the romance between a fearless heroine and the boy who wouldn’t grow up. (Goodreads)

  • Go to Hell, for Heaven’s Sake by Bring Me the Horizon

If I were Tiger Lily, or if Tiger Lily were way less better of a person, this song would definitely be on the official “Peter is a Jerk” playlist.

  • You’re Not Sorry by Taylor Swift

Peter’s not sorry. He doesn’t even comprehend what he’s done to Tiger Lily. Taylor Swift has long rocked the breakup anthems and the romantic ballads, and this is her at her finest.

  • Grenade by Bruno Mars

Maybe “Grenade” is going a little overboard, but Tiger Lily’s despair reminded me of this song. “Grenade” and Tiger Lily are both incredibly beautiful and tragic. Although completely different at first glance, I found them to be surprisingly similar in the emotions they elicit.

  • Someone Like You by Adele

Even though Peter’s a jerk, even though Tiger Lily’s way better than he ever deserves, she can’t help but feel incredibly heartbroken by his actions. This song’s for Tiger Lily, although to be honest, she doesn’t need a guy. She’s perfect.

  • Jar of Hearts by Christina Perri

Tiger Lily’s heart has been broken, but that doesn’t mean she’s just sad. She’s also angry and confused. “Jar of Hearts” perfectly captures her anger and her despair.

  • Absolutely Final Goodbye by Christina Grimmie

Christina Grimmie is a singing beast, but even she can’t beat Tiger Lily. However, this song is one hell of a sassy song, and it’s perfect for Tiger Lily!

  • Tonight I’m Getting Over You by Carly Rae Jepsen

Tonight Tiger Lily’s getting over Peter. Like pronto. I mean, who needs boys when you can wallow along with Carly Rae Jepsen?
