It’s been six months since Eric’s badge was taken, taking him with it, and his absence has been heavily felt by Stella.  The cabin seems empty with nobody to talk things over with not to mention the lack of cooking being done in her kitchen.  Tagger, Walt, and she are determined to find out who stole the badge and bring Eric back home where he belongs.

But when they find Eric, they discover he’s not the only ghost that was stolen, and he brings three others home with him.  But they’re not nearly as good of houseguests as Eric is!  They now must find and return them to where they belong and the sooner the better as one ghost has her sights set on Eric!

Meanwhile, there has been a rash of whiskey still explosions in town and it appears as if someone is eliminating their competition and it’s up to the fire chief to get to the bottom of it before it can escalate any further!

I normally really enjoy this series, but for some reason this book just didn’t engross me as the others have.  I really just had a hard time connecting to it.  I can’t fathom what was different about this installment.  It has all the great characters you’ve come to love, although the beginning was a bit difficult with no Eric, while Stella and company were looking for him.  I was hoping the pace of the book would pick up once he was found, but it just didn’t.

But I won’t let this book keep me from continuing the series.  I’m hopeful that I will enjoy the next book more and can’t wait to see what Stella gets herself into next!
