midnights-temptation-dark-warriors-donna-grantPhelan has always considered himself an outsider where the other Warriors and the druids at MacLeod Castle are concerned.  Being taken from his family at a young age has always left him feeling alone.  He has found an unexpected friendship with fellow warrior Charon.  But now even the other loaner has found love.

Phelan’s blood burns with desire for that beautiful dark haired druid he kissed in the club two months ago; Aisley.  He has been chasing after her ever since, guided by the pulse of her powerful magic.

Aisley is on the run from her cousin Jason Wallace.  Could she be lucky enough for him to have died in that final battle?  Not likely.  And, now the powerful Warrior is following her as well.  Her death is imminent, but she wants to do the world a favor and take Jason out before she dies.

But as she spends time with Phelan, Aisley finds herself falling for him, but what will he do when her secrets are revealed?

I personally love Donna Grant’s writing, and was surprised that this installment took quite awhile for me to truly get into.  There were a lot of scenes with the other characters in the series that seemed to break the story up for me, making it hard to immerse myself into Phelan and Aisley’s story.  I also struggled to get a clear picture of Phelan in my head, as I always like to visualize the characters I’m reading about.  And, I found the eventual hook-up with Aisley and Phelan to be unrealistic.  I just can’t imagine this tough as nails druid that has suffered so much to give herself to a man so easily.  So needless to say this book had a majorly slow start for me.  But stick with it fans because it definitely gets better!

I was reading an advance reader’s copy of this book for my review, which I often do.  But this one was riddled with mistakes and typos that I hope will be corrected before the final installment is released.  Wrong word here, the wrong character’s name there.  It was easy enough to figure out what it was supposed to be most of the time, but was a little frustrating at times.

This book ended up being quite the tear-jerker and I loved it!  If you don’t feel a certain character’s pain in the last couple of chapters, you don’t have a heart!  Grant’s writing makes you feel everything right along with them!  And, even going through all that happened, I was still expecting my HEA (happily ever after) even while reading through all the sorrow.  But of course you will have to read it to find out if there was indeed a light at the end of the tunnel!

And now I can finally delve into the book I’ve been waiting for; Malcolm’s!  Stay tuned for my review of Midnight’s Promise, which is due to be released at the end of October!  In the meantime check out this nice saucy picture I found on Grant’s website for Phelan!
