About L.A. Child and Other Stories:

In this collection of award-winning short stories, men, women and teenagers from London to Boston to Hiroshima to India grapple with the unpredictability of their lives. A teenager receives a gun from his best friend when he finds out his girlfriend has been unfaithful. A teacher in Hiroshima finds herself acting in a live sex show. A young man fakes an act of heroism at the George Washington Bridge so he can be famous. A hostess in a Wonderland-themed amusement park loses her identity to become the “perfect” Alice. And, in the Pushcart Prize-awarded title story, a group of disenfranchised young adults try to make sense of the artificial world that is Los Angeles. (Goodreads)

About author Penny Jackson:

Penny Jackson is an award-winning playwright and novelist who lives in New York City. Her full-length play SAFE won best new play at the Planet Connections Theater Festivity at the Bleecker Street theater last summer and will be produced at the Edinburgh Fringe at the Space/North Bridge Theater in August of 2013. This play was recently published by Indie Theater Now. Her last play, I KNOW WHAT BOYS WANT, was produced by Ego Actus at The Workshop Theater. This timely play, about a high school girl who decides to fight back against her cyber-bully, had a sold out run and received wonderful reviews. Both plays are published by Indie Theater Now. BITTEN, a play that takes place in an Irish bar in Queens, was recently a finalist for the Kenneth Branagh award for New Drama.

Her novel, Becoming the Butlers, was chosen as one of the best books of the year by the New York Public Library. Warner Brother Studios also optioned this novel for film production. A collection of short stories, L.A Child and Other Stories, is available now on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Untreed Reads. I have received numerous awards and recognition, including a prestigious MacDowell Colony Fellowship, a Mirrielees Fellowship in Creative Writing from Stanford University, and a Pushcart Prize for my short story, “L.A. Child.” She is a member of The Dramatists Guild, the League of Professional Theater Women, and She Writes.
