Open Book Society wants to congratulate the author Anne Rice to her birthday!

Howard Allen O’Brien was born October 4, 1941 in New Orleans, Louisiana. She is a best-selling author of gothic, erotic and religious-themed books which have sold nearly 100 million copies, making Anne Rice one of the most widely read authors in modern history. She introduced us to the vampires Lestat de Lioncourt, Louis de Pointe du Lac and Tarquin Blackwood in ‘The Vampire Chronicles’ and to the Mayfair Witches. After her husband died she started to write about religion in ‘The Life of Christ’ and in ‘Songs of the Seraphim’. Anne Rice is also known under her pseudonyms Anne Rampling and A.N. Roquelaure.
