Synopsis:

SHE’S TAKING A WALK ON HIS WILD SIDE

Emma Rush can’t remember a time when she didn’t have a thing for Ryan Blake. Haven’s resident bad boy is just so freakin’ hot-with tattoos, a motorcycle, and enough rough-around-the-edges sexiness to melt all her self-control. Now that Emma’s over being a “good girl,” she needs a little help being naughty . . . and she knows just where to start.

Before Emma’s brother enlisted in the military, he made Ryan promise that he would protect her from everything–including himself. When her brother doesn’t come home, Ryan needs to turn his screwed-up life around to honor his pledge. But he knows he’s still not the right kind of guy for someone as sweet as Emma. Only he can’t stop wanting to be with her. Wanting her. Falling in love with a good girl may be the craziest risk this bad boy can take . . .

Review:

Emma Rush has been interested in Ryan Blake for as long as she can remember.  She does not even care that he is a “bad boy” and not right for her.  In fact, the “bad boy” image makes her want him more.  But she has to convince Ryan that opposites attract and that she does not care about his reputation.

Ryan is trying very hard to honor his promise to Emma’s brother, to watch out for her and to keep her safe.  He knows that he is not the right person for her and that he is just the type of man Emma’s brother wanted her protected from.  But when he is with her, he finds himself wanting her more and more.  He has a problem and does not know what to do about it.  But if Emma has her way, she will solve his problem by being with him, in all ways.

The characters are well rounded and well developed.  Emma has always been a good girl but with her brother gone, she feels that she needs to relax and have a little fun.  She knows that tomorrow is not promised to us.  Although Ryan comes off to the world as wild and reckless, he has a much deeper side, that only a few people have seen.  It was really heartwarming to see the two of them transform into the people that they wanted to be.  I enjoyed getting to spend more time with Ryan, who I had met in book one.  I was hoping he would have his own story, and here it is.  The secondary characters were also well developed and added a lot to the story.

The writing style flows smoothly and the book was a quick easy read.  The author is very talented in her descriptive writing and I was drawn into the book right from the beginning. The book had a cozy feel to it because of the small town setting, which I liked.  But it also had sadness, humor, drama, romance and heat.  It was a unique combination of all those things, blended together nicely.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted women’s contemporary book.  I do not think it is appropriate for young adults but for everyone else I think you should give it a try.  And while you are at it, read book one, because it was a great read too.
