Women of “Twilight” Pose for Vanity Fair

“Twilight” girls, minus Kristen Stewart, have gathered for a photoshoot for Vanity Fair’s July issue. Five vampires, Ashley Greene, Dakota Fanning, Nikki Reed, Elizabeth Reaser and Bryce Dallas Howard, as well as one lone lady werewolf Julia Jones posed for photographer Norman Jean Roy.

In between the snaps, the ladies dished out about “The Twilight Saga’s Eclipse”. Greene, who plays Robert Pattinson’s sister Alice Cullen, revealed to the magazine that she has no worries for “Eclipse” success. She claimed, “You don’t have to be psychic to know how this movie’s going to do. Obviously, it’s going to be a hit.”

Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner Talk “Eclipse”

As for the on-screen action in Eclipse, cast members anticipate an action-packed third installment. This time, Seattle is plagued by a string of murders under the orders of a vengeful vampire seeking payback. To combat the mysterious killings, Bella and the Cullens must join forces with the werewolf pack though they were previously mortal enemies.

“If you read the books, I’d say Eclipse is heavy-set with action. I can’t wait to see it,” Charlie Bewley, who plays the vampire Demetri and has yet to see the final cut. “I have no doubt it’s just going to be an absolute corker.”

This time, cast members agree the film takes a darker twist, continues deepening character developments and will finally appeal to more than just the ladies. “The guys are going to bring their girlfriends to this one, mark my words,” Kellan Lutz told the Los Angeles Times. The actor returns as Emmett Cullen, the strong and brotherly vampire of the Cullen clan. “There’s a lot of fighting, a lot of cool stunts. It’s a little darker. The stuff I’ve seen so far is amazing … the music is great. Everything is just really captivating. I’m excited to see it, and I’m excited for the fans to see it. The stunts are so cool.” Stewart agrees the introduction of new characters adds excitement to the series. “It definitely steps it up in terms of action … there’s more danger, there’s much more at risk,” she told MTV Australia.

Nikki Reed, who plays Emmett’s wife, Rosalie Cullen, thinks fans will see a different side of her character. “You see a reason for her attitude. I think fans will feel for her,” she said. “Fans got to see a bit of her sensitive side. Her sane side. Her logical side. And her desire to help her family. This time around, she is much more of a participant. She’s a survivor. This is her family. So if protecting Bella means protecting her family, she’s going to do it.”

Q & A with Stephenie Meyer About Bree Tanner

from usatoday.com:

Excerpts from a Q&A, released by publisher Little, Brown, with Stephenie Meyer about The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner.

Q: Bree only appears in a couple pages of Eclipse. What was it about the character that made you want to explore her story further?

A: In the beginning, I wasn’t fascinated specifically by Bree — it was the newborns in general. While I was writing Eclipse, there was a lot going on behind the scenes, of course, things Bella didn’t know about. Because I was focused on Bella, I couldn’t delve too deeply into the newborns’ story, however, there was always in my mind a general idea of what they were up to. I had to think about that while I was pacing the plot: Bella is at this point, the newborns are doing this. To keep it all straight, eventually I made a calendar of the months of May and June — which is all Eclipse deals with — and wrote down on each square what was going on with Bella that day and what was happening in Seattle. So the story of the newborns was always a big part of the story of Eclipse. And it made me kind of sad that there was no way to express any of that in the book.

Bree is the only newborn mentioned by name in Eclipse, the only newborn who has contact with the Cullens (aside from being killed by them), and the only newborn who encounters the Volturi in the clearing. She lives the longest, so she is the narrator who can tell the full story. She was a natural choice to chronicle the story of the newborns. Once I started writing from her perspective, she really came alive. So much so that, as the inevitable end got closer, it was really depressing going ahead. It was harder for me to kill Bree than any other fiction character I’ve ever killed, even though I was killing her for the second time. (Before Bree, the saddest was Walter in The Host.)

MTV Reveals Seating Arrangement for Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart

There’s only a couple of more days before the MTV Movie Awards where Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner will be on hand to introduce an exclusive clip to fans around the world.  They posted a photo of the seating placement for Rob and Kristen, including the seat separating the two.  There wasn’t any mention of Taylor’s proximity to their seats.  If previous years’ arrangements account for anything, it would be easy to assume that someone like Chris Weitz could be seated between the two stars, seeing how Catherine Hardwicke was present last year.

Kristen Stewart Apologizes for Offensive Quote

from people.com:

No sooner did excerpts from July’s British Elle make their way to the Internet on Wednesday than the blogosphere exploded in outrage.

In an offending quote, Twilight saga star Kristen Stewart compared paparazzi photos of herself to images of a woman being raped. Almost immediately, everyone from fans to spokespeople for rape victims’ advocacy organizations were publicly criticizing the actress.

“I really made an enormous mistake – clearly and obviously,” Stewart, currently in Korea to promote the new installment of the Twilight series Eclipse, tells PEOPLE exclusively. “And I’m really sorry about my choice of words.”

Have you pre-ordered a copy of the Bree Tanner novella or are you just going to do the free online version?  I’m hoping that mine arrives quickly – I went ahead and went for the hard copy.  I’m looking forward to reading it and getting more of the story from another POV.  (OK…maybe I’m just desperate for more of the Saga from Stephenie Meyer and not random fan fiction!)

I couldn’t help but laugh at the prepaid debit cards.   If I had any need for one, I’d probably choose the one with all of the Cullens on it.  Which one would you have in your wallet?

Kudos for Kristen for her apology.  I, for one, choose not to go ballistic on her for her verbal slip.  her fans know how she gets nervous in interviews and how she feels about the paparazzi being in her face.  It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that she never meant to diminish the damage done to true victims of rape.
