*Beware of possible Spoilers*
Bones and Cat have been taking things easy since things have settled down in their lives and they can finally revel in the normalcy of day to day life. But like all good things, that comes to an end when Don informs Cat that Juan, Dave, Cooper, and Tate haven’t been seen in weeks. A visit to see Madigan solidifies their fears that Madigan has done something to their friends.
Bones and Cat and their supernatural allys work together and launch a rescue mission to save their friends. But what they discover along the way will turn all their worlds’ upside-down and change them for forever!
The dedication page on this book states this one is for the fans. And, with appearances from our favorites: Ian, Spade, Vlad, and Mencheres I believe this book truly is for all of us readers that have dedicated so much time to this series and being engulfed in the Night Huntress world. I absolutely loved ‘seeing’ all of my favorites again, especially Ian. That boy just cracks me up and I can’t get enough of him.
“I don’t need these,” Ian said, flashing emerald in his turquoise gaze for a split second, “when I have this.”
With a casual swipe of his hand, he ripped his shirt open, causing buttons to fly everywhere. Another swipe took his sleep mask all the way off. Finally, he finger-combed his shoulder-length hair and smiled at his reflection in the rearview mirror.
“I am, after all, irresistible.”
I couldn’t contain my snort. “I resisted you just fine the day we met, or don’t you remember me sticking a knife in your chest?”
Ian smiled with lazy wickedness. “I remember, but you seem to have forgotten that you kissed me first. And thoroughly enjoyed it.”
Now, if only I could get a video of the scene of him ‘baiting the hook’!
There was not a dull moment in this novel! I ate it all up with a silver spoon and just couldn’t get enough! There isn’t much in the romance or sex department, just a few brief scenes, but this book more than makes up for it in action and the exciting storyline as discoveries are made! In this book, we get to see the extent of the betrayal of those that have been around Cat in her past, and it’s staggering. Too bad that Bones couldn’t get the full extent of his vengeance, as the guilty parties more than deserve a lifetime of slow insidious torture.
I loved this book, but it left me weighed down with incredible sadness knowing that this is the final installment of this wonderful series. I’m just not ready to say goodbye to my friends that I’ve grown to love over the years. I’m also sad that Ian has never found that special someone. I’m hoping that maybe, just maybe, we’ll get to see him find that in the Night Prince series. I imagine that he and Vlad could get into plenty of trouble together and it would be loads of fun to see!
There couldn’t have been a better ending to this series, but I do hope we get to see Cat and Bones later down the line in Frost’s other series.
Goodbye my friends, I love you and will miss you, until I indulge in a series re-read that is, and live it all over again!
Every Night Huntress fan should buy this book because you will definitely want to read it again and again!
