“Breaking Dawn” NOT Being Shot in 3-D

Rumors and speculation have been swirling for months about whether “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” will be in 3-D.  GossipCop.com has a statement from Summit Entertainment stating that “neither film is being shot in 3-D.”

However, this does not rule out the possibility of 3-D effects being added to the film in post-production.

David Slade Talks About Making “Eclipse”

“The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” director David Slade recently spoke to The Vancouver Sun about what it was like making the third installment of The Twilight Saga – filming even before the second film had hit theaters.  He talked about filming, security on set, fans, and how he perceived the film to be more of a romance story.

Slade says he saw Eclipse as more of a romance.

“Within the two pulling forces of romance and terror, I wanted to try and sample both,” he says. “I don’t think they really did it (in the previous Twilight movies) so much. I wanted Rob (Pattinson) to be scary. I wanted him to have a visceral quality, where a flash of his eyes kind of made it look like he could kill.”

Slade says he approached Eclipse as a stand-alone film. “There are films that came before, and you inherit cast and crew … but I really didn’t spend any time studying the other movies.”

I’m among those relieved to know that they are not shooting “Breaking Dawn” in 3-D.  This gives some indication of their intentions with the final product, although there’s the chance of it being done in post-production.  I just don’t think I’d like to see Bella’s projectile vomit of blood or the birth of Renesmee in 3-D.   I’m just fine with the traditional method of watching films.

I love the ODOT road signs, although I wonder if Summit will come after them for some sort of trademark infringement since they used a font and elements that are recognizeable as “Twilight”.  Although, ODOT isn’t profiting from it and the intent is to save lives…we’ll see.   I’d love to see a billboard with a screen cap of Bella and Edward in the car in Port Angeles telling each other to put their seat belts on.  LOL!

I loved the David Slade article.  He really is a fascinating guy.  I think that he did a great job working with Rob for “Eclipse” and bringing Edward’s nature across so much better.  It’s also rather interesting that he didn’t spend time studying the other movies.
