The Real McQueen
By Evgenia Peretz at Vanity Fair
The Vampire Diaries, in its second season on the CW network, is what the kids, apparently, have been waiting for: sexy vampires who actually have sex (or come close)—and also murder one another and trade wiseass zingers. Lending some nuanced humanity to this naughty mix of Twilight and Gossip Girl is Steven McQueen (grandson of film star Steve McQueen), 22, who plays a newly orphaned teenager on a lonely quest to fit in and find himself. It’s been a therapeutic journey for the young man, who has led his own roving existence.
His parents divorced when he was young. While his father, Chad McQueen, threw himself into the car-racing world (his own father’s chief passion), Steven was home-schooled and moved from city to city with his mother and stepfather, Luc Robitaille, a professional hockey player. “When we were living in Detroit, I had a real lack of direction,” says McQueen. “I started watching movies all day long,” including those of the grandfather he never knew (The Thomas Crown Affair, Bullitt, The Great Escape). With his passion ignited, he moved back to Los Angeles and started taking acting classes.

10 Minutes Inside HBO’s Upcoming Series ‘Game of Thrones’
by Peter Sciretta at Slash Film
Over the past few months, we’ve posted a bunch of trailers and previews (teaser, teaser #2, trailer #1) for HBO’s upcoming fantasy series Game of Thrones, based on George R.R. Martin‘s bestselling fantasy novel series A Song of Fire and Ice. On Sunday night, HBO aired a ten minute behind the scenes featurette for the upcoming tv series.
The show is titled after the first novel in the series. Martin has planned seven books in the series, and the plan is to turn each book into a full season of television. The massive story is “set in the mythical land of Westeros [which] tells the story of the noble Stark family, who become caught up in high court intrigue when patriarch Eddard (Sean Bean) becomes the king’s new right-hand man.”

8 cool pics from The Cape plus 2 trailers (Summer Glau alert!)
By Nathalie Caron at Blastr
Will The Cape end up seeming like another Heroes, or something completely different? It’s too soon to tell, but from from what we’ve seen so far, it’s certainly looking pretty darn cool. Add the fact our favorite sci-fi gal, Summer Glau, is in the series, and that certainly amps up the anticipation level.
Officer Vince Faraday was a good cop trying to clean up a corrupt city. Framed for murder and left for dead, he suddenly found himself separated from his wife and son and forced into hiding. Now, inspired by his son’s favorite comic book hero, he’s taking the law into his own hands, and playing a deadly game of chess with the powerful kingpin who framed him.

I’m really looking forward to The Cape. I’m glad there’s a definite date now too. And I’m a little jealous that Steven McQueen’s stepdad is Luc Robitaille.
What did you think of all the videos today? What show are you looking forward to the most? What did you think of the article about Steven McQueen?
