By Annalee Newitz at io9

The first episode of web series Universal Dead, featuring DB Sweeney, Doug Jones, and Gary Graham, has been posted, and it’s pretty damn cool. Watching will make you hunger for more.

Planet Earth is ravaged by a strange disease that turns people into mindless murderers. As civilization struggles to survive, a small team of US Navy SEALs must protect a doctor from the Center for Disease Control on a mission to evaluate the claims of an erratic scientist who may have discovered the secret to mankind’s salvation.

Let the Transformers 3 Recasting Rumors Begin: Gemma Arterton May Be New Love Interest

That was fast. It’s been only hours since the first report surfaced that Michael Bay and Paramount had decided against bringing Megan Fox back into the fold for Transformers 3, and already there are recasting rumors. Some might be a slight bit premature. But decisions can happen fast, especially with only weeks left before the film shoots, which means relatively little time remains to lock down whatever script changes would be necessary to accommodate a new character.

All that being the case, who gets to be the new love interest for Shia LaBeouf in Transformers 3? Gemma Arteron is said to be high on the list, and she’s actually a damn good choice.

Megamind trailer: Dr. Horrible meets The Incredibles?

by Patrick Lee at Sci Fi Wire

DreamWorks Animation is entering the territory of The Incredibles and Dr. Horrible with its new superhero spoof Megamind. Yahoo! posted the trailer for the new movie, which features the voices of Will Ferrell as the title supervillain, Tina Fey as a spunky reporter and Brad Pitt (!) as the superhero Metro Man.

When super villain Megamind (Ferrell) defeats his archrival Metro Man (Pitt), the world should be his oyster. But instead, Megamind falls into total despair. It turns out that life without a rival is life without a point for him. So, he creates a new superhero rival, Titan (Hill). Unfortunately, the new hero wants to be a super villain, too.

Doc Ock Will Chase A Shirtless Werewolf Boy

I really wish that headline was the plot of this movie, instead of “Teen Fugitive,” with Alfred Molina playing Tommy Lee Jones.

“Lionsgate just got a boost for its Cannes sales effort on Abduction, setting Alfred Molina to play a key role in the drama that stars Twilight hunk Taylor Lautner. Lautner plays a young man who realizes he was kidnapped as a child, and is forced to run for his life after he reaches out to find his real parents. Molina will play a dogged CIA agent who is one step behind, determined to bring the teenager in alive. John Singleton is directing the Shawn Christensen script.”

Emma Watson Lands Her First Role Outside Harry Potter

By Josh Tyler at Cinema Blend

Variety says Emma Watson is set to star opposite former Percy Jackson Logan Lerman in The Perks of Being a Wallflower. It’s based on a book about a shy teenager who writes letters to an anonymous person about his awkward adolescence. Surprisingly, for a shy and unpopular teenager, he manages to get involved in drugs and sex. Yeah, that’s realistic. No word on what role Watson will play but she strikes me as more of a sex than a drug.

Though the far less talented Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint have been doing work outside Harry Potter, this is Emma’s first shot at a movie that doesn’t involve Hogwarts. I suppose she could have been on stage somewhere cavorting naked with a horse if she’d wanted to, but Watson wanted to go to college.

Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint are both good actors now, but in the very first Harry Potter movie they weren’t great. But Emma Watson was, even from the beginning, so I’m glad to see her in other stuff. And I hope they don’t just recast Mikaela in Transformers, I hope they create a new character. I hate when they recast like that, as if the audience won’t notice. But I will go see anything with Gemma Arteron.

What do you think of Zombie web series? will you keep watching? Did you like the Megamind trailer?
