Intertwined: Chapter 16 -by Caro

Everyone had left and Mary Ann was eating Chinese food with her father. Mr. Gray sensed something wrong with Mary Ann and she told him if she could ask about his patients. Dr. Gray would never betray the trust of a patient so Mary Ann told him it was friends, but when she mentioned Aden’s name all the color drained from his face. Dr. Gray apparently did remember Aden. When she questioned him about Aden he ignored her and sending her to sleep. Mary Ann wouldn’t cease, she had to get answers to be able to help Aden. Dr. Gray had enough and left without saying anything else.

Aden woke up in his room with Victoria by his side. She apologized for drinking so much of his blood but Aden didn’t care. He told her about Elijah’s vision of him dying. Victoria insisted that he rest and then he would tell her everything clearly. For a moment Aden feared that he couldn’t hear the souls anymore, he hoped that they had freed already, but still he was scared until Eve answered him and then the others.

Memorable Quotes

Victoria: “You’re all right. You have nothing to worry about. I took care of everything. I cleaned the barn and fed the horses, thought the animals weren’t happy to see me. I convinced Dan and the others that you came home when you were supposed to. Dan even thinks the two of you had a nice long chat about your study session.”

Aden: “Julian, I swear to God if you don’t start talking I’m going to–”

Julian: “Too loud. Keep it down.”

Mary Ann: “It’s unfair. I never know how you’re feeling.”

Riley: “In that case, allow me to share. At any given time, it’s safe to say I’m thinking about you and equally excited.”

Mary Ann: “Oh. You…like me like me, then?”

Riley: “Why else would I hang around like this? Why else would I sometimes want to destroy your good friend Aden? Too good a friend, if you ask me. And what about your feelings.”

Riley: “Next time you decide to do that…”

Mary Ann: “What? Give you a little warning?”

Riley: “No. Linger.”
