Lionsgate casts Elizabeth Banks as Effie in ‘The Hunger Games’ movie via The Hunger Games Examiner

It’s official! On Thursday, Lionsgate announced that it had cast actress Elizabeth Banks in the role of Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games.

Banks has a long list of experience as both a comedic and a dramatic actress, including roles in W, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, and Zack and Miri Make a Porno. She also previously worked with Hunger Games director Gary Ross in Seabiscuit.

According to her imdb page, Tara Macken (District 4) has done mostly stunt work, which is perfect for The Games. Ethan Jamieson doesn’t have an imdb page yet, but since he has officially been cast, it’s only a matter of time.

John C. Reilly reportedly in talks to play Haymitch in ‘The Hunger Games’ movie via The Hunger Games Examiner

Veteran actor John C. Reilly is reportedly in talks with Lionsgate to play the role of Haymitch in The Hunger Games movie. According to NY Mag, Reilly is expected to be offered the role in the near future.

After Katniss, Peeta and Gale, Haymitch is arguably one of the most hotly-anticipated casting decisions for fans of the series.

[Reilly] has both comedic and dramatic roles under his belt, both skills necessary to tackle the crass, usually drunk, tough-skinned but well-meaning mentor to Katniss and Peeta. It doesn’t hurt that Reilly also has an Oscar nomination under his belt.
