Newly commissioned Interceptor fighter pilot, Erynn Yager, knows sacrifice. Her battle against a brutal alien enemy intent on destroying her two worlds set her on a journey of self-discovery and empowerment, all while struggling to gain control of her secret abilities. With the alien threat crushed, Erynn believes the worst is behind her. She settles in to experience first love and a changed life on a hidden military base deep inside a glacier covered mountain on Arranon.

Her peaceful existence can’t last.

Dhoran, the evil sovereign of Arranon’s underworld has risen from the dead to possess an unwilling human. Dhoran’s powers grow while he plots a war that may plunge Arranon onto a path of destruction neither realm will survive. Arranon is pulled into chaos as violence spreads across the planet.

Drawn first in visions, Erynn enters a diverse world beneath Arranon’s surface, a realm teeming with danger, mystery, and beauty. The battle thrusts her into an uncharted kingdom, intensifying her connection to the heart and soul of the living Arranon. (Goodreads)

Wow, what an enjoyable read. How the author managed to add so much more to this story is amazing. What a wonderful world, with new exciting areas; a whole new world underground. With new characters and characters from the first book that continue to grow and become even better. The new evil was interesting, with extra depth not always found in the “bad guy”.

Besides the main characters which I enjoyed all of them. Cace was awesome, his special skills were much needed and how that situation evolved was perfect. I’m hoping he will be in the next book, with more of the mixed children and there special abilities. I can’t wait to see where the author takes this story.

The twist with the romance was well done, it also adds to the story and doesn’t over take it. I thought how Erynn reacted was believable and then how she figured out how to be more mature about it and not run from the situation but listen, was how an intelligent young person would react. Also, that she was able to let go of the drama and focus on what her special role was; excellent!

I really love this series!!! So why 4 stars and not 5? It’s the ending. Yes, I know there is another book (can’t wait) but the ending was abrupt and there were so many questions left open ended. I don’t mind some questions, but for me personally there was to much not answered. I would put this into my “wait for the series to be finished” file on my goodreads label. Except this is such a great series I don’t think at this point I could wait. This series just keeps getting better and better. I highly recommend it!
