Synopsis:

From the author of The Someday Jar comes a witty and warm novel about a matchmaker who’s an expert at matters of the heart—except when it comes to her own…

Matchmaker Bree Caxton has a 98% success rate, a book about to hit the stands, and an amazing boyfriend. Until, that is, he gets cold feet about their future and runs from their relationship.

Afraid no one will buy a book on love from a woman whose love life is a mess, Bree begs her one matchmaking failure, Nixon Voss, to pose as her boyfriend. But when they become a hit with readers, they must carry on their charade just a little longer. Fortunately, they’re both having fun…

But then Bree’s ex decides he wants her back and a newspaper presents a challenge that could expose the truth about her rocky love life. Now she must find the courage to embrace what is, or risk losing something much bigger than her reputation: her heart… (Goodreads)

Review:

Bree Caxton has everything going for her.  Her matchmaking business is successful and she is about to be a published author.  And she has a great boyfriend, one that she wants to spend her life with.  But all of this changes when her boyfriend decides he wants out of the relationship.  What is she going to do now?  How will people take her seriously as a matchmaker when she cannot even find a permanent match for herself?  She does what any intelligent woman would do, she finds a fake boyfriend.  Lucky for her she is able to find someone willing to agree to her trickery.

The characters are well developed, well rounded and three dimensional.  Bree was a strong willed caring woman.  She does not let life get the better of her.  Instead she takes lemons and makes lemonade.  I enjoyed getting to know her better and spend time with her.  Nick was a great match for her, but does she see that before it is too late?

There was plenty of tension and enough twists and turns during the book that this reader had to keep turning pages as fast as possible.  I was not sure what was going to happen next and I had no idea how Bree was going to get herself out of the mess her life had become. I really enjoyed that and the book definitely held my interest from beginning to end.

I have always liked these types of stories, either in book or movie form, and this book was no exception.  Pretend boyfriend/girlfriend, and then all of a sudden there is no more pretending.  I really enjoyed the theme of this book and thought the author did a great job with it and made it more unique.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well written women’s contemporary.  This is a new author to me and I look forward to reading more of her books.  Check out her books and see what you think.
