Synopsis:

Finally, the highly anticipated follow-up to the New York Times bestseller Beautiful Disaster. Can you love someone too much?

Travis Maddox learned two things from his mother before she died: Love hard. Fight harder.

In Walking Disaster, the life of Travis is full of fast women, underground gambling, and violence. But just when he thinks he is invincible, Abby Abernathy brings him to his knees.

Every story has two sides. In Beautiful Disaster, Abby had her say. Now it’s time to see the story through Travis’s eyes. (Goodreads)

Review:

I remember falling for Travis Maddox.  He was one of my very first “fictional boyfriends” and set the standard for all the others.  Walking Disaster is a glimpse at what is really behind all of the tattoos, the fights and the girl who changed him for the better.

Get ready.  The Prologue was one of the most moving parts of the book. Pieces of the puzzle start to fall into place and we finally find out the origin of the nickname “Pigeon”.  It’s sweeter than I imagined.

Abby on the other hand, came across as a bit cold and unfeeling.  I really loved her in Beautiful Disaster.  Given that this is Travis’s side of the story and he is dealing with some serious insecurities – his feelings for her send him into a kind of mania – so I chalked it up to that.  I’m glad I had read her side of the story to know that she had a heart as well.

Another part that I wasn’t expecting was the Epilogue.  Without giving anything away, I can say that it was totally satisfying to see the characters end up where they do.  It was pretty close to perfect.

I would recommend reading both books, Beautiful Disaster and Walking Disaster (in order) to get the full fabulous picture that Jamie McGuire intended for her fans and readers.  It was fascinating to read a book from the guy’s perspective for a change.  It seems that we all are fragile and vulnerable in our own ways.  Walking Disaster was worth the wait and Travis didn’t fail to deliver the goods.  I might love him just a bit more…

“You know why I want you?  I didn’t know I was lost until you found me.  I didn’t know what alone was until the first night I spent without you in my bed.  You’re the one thing I’ve got right.  You’re what I’ve been waiting for, Pigeon.” – Travis Maddox
