Episode Synopsis: THE VAMPIRE DIARIES Series “Children Of The Damned” Episode 13 – MORE SECRETS OF THE SALVATORE FAMILY HISTORY ARE REVEALED / KELLY HU AND JAMES REMAR GUEST STAR — In flashbacks, Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) recall the long-ago actions taken by townspeople including their father, Guiseppe Salvatore (guest star James Remar, “Dexter”), and Pearl (guest star Kelly Hu, “Army Wives”), leading to the devastating events that caused the rift in their relationship. In the present, Bonnie’s (Katerina Graham) date with Ben (guest star Sean Faris) takes a frightening turn. Elena (Nina Dobrev) helps Stefan as he and Damon race to find the missing journal that belonged to Elena’s ancestor. Stefan learns the reason behind Alaric’s (Matt Davis) interest in both the journal and the town’s history. Damon discovers that an old acquaintance has returned to town with an agenda he understands. Steven R. McQueen and Sara Canning also star. Marcos Siega directed the episode written by Kevin Williamson & Julie Plec.
Exclusive Interview: ‘VAMPIRE DIARIES’ STAR PAUL WESLEY TALKS ABOUT LIFE PLAYING THE UNDEAD
iF: Have you read any of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES books?
WESLEY: I hadn’t read the books before I auditioned. But after I got the part, I found out it was based on books. I had like a week before I started shooting after I got the part, so I plowed through the books as quickly as I could.
iF: So now that you’re in this high profile position as the male lead of a very successful show, how does it feel to be entering into “sex symbol” territory?
WESLEY: I’m oblivious to it, in all sincerity. Hearing it kind of makes me blush. I don’t get out much, so I’m sort of oblivious to it. I have kind of a very homely life. I sit at home and I work. The idea of having female admirers makes me blush and makes me feel good.
iF: Who do you think Stefan loves more, Elena (Nina Dobrev) or his long lost love, Katherine?
WESLEY: Elena. I answer that with no hesitation.
iF: Why do you say that?
WESLEY: Because he realizes after meeting Elena that he never loved Katherine.
Nina Dobrev Criticized by ‘Vampire Diaries’ Fans for Not Being Blonde
Actress Nina Dobrev has incurred the wrath of “The Vampire Diaries” fans – for sporting a different hair color to her character in the original book. The 21 year old plays lead Elena in the new U.S. series and was told by show executives to keep her hair brunette for the role.
But fans of the novels, penned by L. J. Smith, are in uproar – because Elena is a blonde in the books. Dobrev explains, “I couldn’t go online because everyone was like, ‘She’s not a blonde, Elena’s a blonde’. We had to change it because in the books Elena was a little bit more of a Queen Bee, the popular high school girl and it just didn’t seem relatable to a lot of people.”
Tonight’s episode looks great. I can’t wait.
I love reading that Paul Wesley read the Vampire Diaries books and tried to get to know his character.
I, too, was initially upset that Nina Dobrev was cast as Elena. She didn’t fit my vision, BUT seeing her act, that did it for me. She is right for the part despite her hair or eye color. What do you think?
