MICHAEL SHEEN TALKS ABOUT “BREAKING DAWN” ENDING

In a recent MTV interview with Michael Sheen who plays the mind-reading Volturi Coven leader, Aro, a bearded Sheen responded to a question as to whether the scenes with the Volturi and the Cullens would mirror the book or if they would be “amped up”.  Sheen responded with the following:

“Oh this is very amped up, yeah. This is, I think we spent something like four or five weeks shooting that scene and it takes up a big chunk of the movie. And it’s got extraordinary things going on in it, so it certainly won’t be anticlimactic.”

CHRISTIAN SERRATOS IN TRAILER FOR “96 MINUTES”

A member of the Forks High humans as Angela Weber, Christian Serratos, appears in a new film featured at SXSW this year.  In “96 Minutes”, a film based on true events, Christian is one of four kids featured in the tale involving a carjacking and a terrifying night.

ANOTHER OFFICIAL STILL FROM “BREAKING DAWN” RELEASED

Summit Entertainment has released another official still from “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1”.  In this image, it looks like Edward and Bella are finishing packing up Bella’s room at Charlie’s house.   You can easily see Bella’s engagement ring on her finger, but it looks different from the ring that she was wearing in “Eclipse”.  The ring in “Eclipse” was more oval and longer, whereas this one seems more rounded.    Take a look and compare the two rings.

Do you think that we’ll be seeing Twilight-inspired baby names for several more years or will this pass quickly?  Take note that Anthony (Edward’s) middle name made the Top Ten for the boys.  Could that be a sneaky way for TwiMoms to get a Twilight name past their husbands and partners?  Out of curiosity, I searched the popularity of other Twilight names to see what kind of trend there was for them.  Here’s what I found:

Edward:  The name has held a fairly steady position with #148 in 2008, #137 in 2009, and #136 in 2010.

Emmett:  Increased in popularity from #547 in 2008 to #332 in 2009 to #273 in 2010.

Jasper:  Increased in popularity from #449 in 2008 to #337 in 2009 to #286 in 2010.

Carlisle: Not in the top 1000 names for boys in the past 11 years.

Esme:  Broke into the top 1000 names for the first time in 2010 at #921.

Rosalie:  Broke into the top 1000 names in 2009 at #837 and jumped to #590 in 2010.

Alice: Increased from #327 in 2008 to #258 in 2009 to #172 in 2010.

Seeing these trends, I have a sneaking suspicion that we might be seeing some Twilight-inspired names for a while.

What do you think of the comments that Michael Sheen made about the ending with the Volturi?   I can’t help but wonder if some of the massive shooting that they did was for the vision that Alice had.  What do you think?

The trailer for “96 Minutes” looks interesting and really intense.  Is this something that you are interested in seeing?   I always enjoy seeing the other works of the stars of the Saga to see them spread their wings.  I feel bad for them because the critics are quick to hate on them because of their affiliation with “Twilight” and rarely give them a fair shake.

What are your thoughts on the latest still and Bella’s ring?  Does it look like the propmaster commissioned a different ring this time around?  How much of the change do you think was influenced by the newest addition to the production team (hint: author of The Twilight Saga) or do you think that the director wanted something different?  I can’t wait to see a close-up of the new ring.  Personally, I’m hoping to see something more delicate and antique in design.  I’m among those who felt that the one used in “Eclipse” was too contemporary.
