rekindled-silver-creek-maisey-yatesI thought this was an absolutely delightful story. The only problem with this story was that it was too short. I love it when books have stories about life’s bumps and bruises, you fall down and you get back up, you move on to better things.

There are many kinds of abuse, those that people see like bruises on your body and those that people can’t see like bruises to the mind and heart. Bruises on the body are easier to heal and deal with then the bruises made on your heart and mind.

Daniel Carter was charismatic, older and rich. So shortly after they met, Lucy Ryan and Daniel Carter married. Lucy quits college and becomes a trophy wife. After eight years of devoting all her time to him, his parties and being verbally beaten down, Lucy just couldn’t take it anymore so she divorced him. Since she instigated the divorce, she was left penniless because of the pre-nup she signed. Although she lost everything Lucy gained her self respect and self esteem, there are somethings in life that money just can’t do.

When Lucy Ryan came home to her parents, she expected open arms and her old bedroom waiting for her. But after arriving home her mother refused her and told her to go back home to her husband.

Not knowing what to do she applied for a job and when she went for the interview the one person she mocked and put down in school is the one person that can help her, Mac Denton.

Living the high life of money and privilege Lucy Ryan was mean and unrepenting upon the lower class and her tongue was sharp as a knife and Mac Denton was one of the many who felt the blade of her tongue. The only difference was Mac defended himself and his family to Lucy and her friends.

So now with the reversal of roles Lucy is standing in front of Mac looking to get the very position that she made fun of Mac’s mother having, housekeeper and maid.  Mac decides to let go of the past and gives Lucy the position that absolutely turns their lives into a direction that neither one ever thought they would be going.

I really enjoyed this book and have not read the first of The Silver Creek series but will. The good thing about this book is you don’t have to read the others first. This is a good standalone but I believe after reading this you will want to read the others.
