MOVIE NEWS FOR DEC 11 PART 2: BRITTANY AS BUFFY, NARNIA AND MORE!

Glee star as Buffy, The Vampire Slayer!?

Heather Morris, of “Glee” fame (as opposed to “I gave birth to Caffeinated Clint” fame), is said to be the favourite to grip the stake in Warner’s “Buffy, the Vampire Slayer” movie remake.

MovieWeb were in Nashville this past week and had the chance to ask an associate of Sandollar productions, who are producing the movie, who the studio were envisioning as their new Buffy Sommers.

Says the site, “The source indicates that Heather Morris’s comedic timing is a perfect fit for Buffy Summers, and that her background as a dancer and a gymnast will be greatly utilized in the skill set that Buffy is supposed to have as a Slayer. In this new reboot, Buffy will no longer be in high school, but instead facing the same hardships that a lot of young college graduates have today in struggling to find a paying job and a healthy relationship. Though she plays a teenager on Glee, the 23 year-old-actress is actually the right age for this newly rebooted take on the character.”

10 Big Differences Between Narnia: Voyage Of The Dawn Treader Book And Movie

Source: cinemablend.com

The Chronicles of Narnia series, while it hasn’t been known for making Harry Potter level money or inspiring viewers to get pumped for the next installment, has been known for one thing: staying fairly true to the books. Of course, characters and events were slightly tweaked and changed in the first two films, but with Disney washing its hands of the franchise and 20th Century Fox picking it up… only to wash its hands of the franchise, the last of the Narnia films features more swashbuckling and adventure than its C.S. Lewis written counterpart.

Since The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is generally one of the more popular titles in the Narnia series, it’s a shame it doesn’t stick as closely as the others to plot, but I can’t really blame director Michael Apted for turning a niche-audience story based on wit-filled interactions and strong characters into a broad story mainly about action. I’m sure he has kids to feed. Or a dog.

Flip flop: Will ‘Tron’ be a hit this time?

Source: newsday.com

Walt Disney Studios is hoping that Friday’s release of “Tron: Legacy,” a $150-million sci-fi film about a programmer transported into a giant computer, will be the movie event of the year. The campaign has been impressive: years of sneak-preview footage, an animated series in the works, plans for action figures and other merchandise. Even the beloved monorail at Orlando’s Walt Disney World has been wrapped in a giant advertisement for the movie, an unprecedented step in the theme park’s history.

None of which would be surprising, except that “Tron: Legacy” is a sequel to a film that came out nearly 30 years ago. And that movie, 1982’s “Tron,” was a flop.

The original “Tron,” and the reasons for its failure, remain difficult to summarize. It was a technological marvel that felt oddly dated, a perfectly timed concept that somehow missed its mark. And although it was a box-office disappointment, it remains a cultural landmark with a loyal cult following. That puts Disney in the unenviable position of improving on a film that didn’t work, while honoring its original vision.

Exclusive: ‘I Am Number Four’ Director D.J. Caruso on Sci-Fi, Cinematography and Hitchcock

Source: blog.moviefone.com

Since making his feature directorial debut in 2002 with ‘The Salton Sea,’ D.J. Caruso has slowly but steadily infiltrated the mainstream with one project or another that combines an independent sensibility with commercial appeal. His last two films, ‘Disturbia’ and ‘Eagle Eye,’ were both big hits, and earned him the box office cred to tackle an even bigger project: ‘I Am Number Four,’ a highly-anticipated adaptation of the best-selling book by Pittacus Lore (also known as Jobie Hughes and James Frey).
