Unfortunately, one man Holly does meet is cold, dead cold, and he has a personal letter from Oma in his pocket. As suspicion is cast over the inn’s guests, Holly, with the help of her furry friends, Trixie the Jack Russell and Twinkletoes the cat, must fetch the real killer, or she may soon have a date in court.

Review:

If you love your pet and you love your cozies, there is no series better to read the Krista Davis’ “A Paws and Claws Mystery”. You cannot find a better fit if that is your wheelhouse or a better writer in this genre’. Who would not want to live in a wonderful town in the mountains that caters to owners and their furbabies, is inhabited by amazing people and has an Oma(German for grandmother). Mission Impawsible is the fourth book is this fabulous series. I could not put it down! The only downside to that is the book ended too soon and I had to leave my heaven on earth town of Wagtail, Virginia. Holly Miller is a great lead character and I want to hang out with her and her Oma and never leave. Although the murder rate could be a problem.

In this installment of “Paws and Claws” Holly and her Oma are preparing for a big matchmaking event for pet owners at their wonderful Sugar Maple Inn. Holly is still unsure of her own love life, but that does not stop Oma from trying to find a man for her. Everyone is involved in the big event, including Holly’s furbaby Trixie the Jack Russel and Twinkletoes the cat. Once the event is going full force, Holly finds a man alright, but he is stone cold dead and things do not look good. He has a letter from Oma on him. What could that mean, who is he, who did this and why did Holly have to find the body again. Trixie is going to have to stop getting her into these messes.

Krista Davis is such an amazing author. Her writing style flows, takes you on a journey filled with mystery, murder and laughs. Her characters feel like friends and they draw you in so you do not want to leave. There is truly no setting that I would want to hop into and stay for a good long while. There are so many wonderful scenes, plots, clues, conversations, you just never want to put the book down. I enjoyed the path of finding out whodunit as much as I did the time with the furbabies. Ok maybe not as much, but just about. Holly is intelligent and strong and a wonderful friend and granddaughter. There really is nothing I could say bad or slightly not good about this book other than this – it ended and Wagtail is not real, yet.

Even though Mission Impawsible is the fourth book in this fantastic series, you do not have to read them in order. Krista Davis does enough to get you caught up without dragging the story down at all. I would suggest you do read them all because come on – pets are catered to in a mountain town and they are great. I would recommend this book and series to any cozy reader. I would say it is necessary reading for anyone who loves their pets and reads cozy mysteries. And I would also say we all need to band together and make Wagtail a reality. This is definitely one of the best cozies out there. Do yourself a huge favor and read this one and all of them in the series. Seriously, pets catered to, a beautiful setting, fabulous characters and a superbly written mystery – it doesn’t get any better!
