Review
Antonio Palermo never thought much about marriage and kids. Love was definitely never part of the equation. He is the head of the Palermo mafia family. Anything Antonio does, is just to strengthen their hold in their world.
Now he is marrying Angelica Larone, a woman he’s never met. He’s doing it to form an alliance with the Larone family. He didn’t care which of Constantine’s daughters he married, it was all about expanding his empire and his own family’s status. So, Constantine gave him Angelica, his problem child.
Antonio never expected her though. The attitude. The mouth. It turned him on in ways he never anticipated.
And, when someone comes after them, Antonio will rage an all-out war to protect his angel. When the smoke clears, will there be anything left standing?
I think this book started out decently. Better than I expected, if I’m being honest. It’s an arranged marriage set to benefit a couple of mob families. You know that going in, so you aren’t expecting much more than that. Of course, Antonio falls for his wife instantly and it becomes all about protecting what is his, especially her.
I thought this novella was going at a decent pace, until the very end when it seems like the author decided to get into a rush to finish the story. Like oops we’re approaching our word count better wrap it up. Then, all hell breaks loose and then the book is just over. Like that’s it? I would have preferred Mink to have taken the time and gotten to a more natural conclusion. It just seemed too rushed at the end, and it didn’t seem like much was solved. And, honestly, I’m not sure who was left standing, at the end. It left the book feeling unfinished.
