Synopsis:marry-me-on-main-street

In the latest Cricket Creek romance from the USA Today bestselling author of Wish Upon a Wedding, two people discover what it really takes to go after your heart’s desire…

In her small shop on Main Street, Susan Quincy sells handmade gifts and repurposed items. But she can’t part with the beautiful rocking chair she bought at an estate sale when its maker turns out to be Danny Mayfield. Even years later, Susan still cringes over how her handsome, popular high school crush only asked her to prom out of pity—or so she thinks…

Danny doesn’t know why Susan has avoided him for years, especially after the electric kiss they shared the night of prom. So when he learns that she wants him to craft more rocking chairs to sell at her shop, Danny can’t resist the chance to work on his passion and charm shy, beautiful Susan again—and this time, make it last…

Review:

Reading this book reminded me of watching a Hallmark Christmas movie.  I just wanted to snuggle up in my favorite cozy chair, with a warm blanket over me, sipping hot chocolate and enjoy reading this book.  I loved the characters, the small town setting, the Christmas cheer and the humor found within the pages of this book.

Susan is such a sweet and lovable person that you could not help but like her immediately.  She is a hard worker and she loves owning her own business, Rhyme And Reason, where she sells handmade items. She is happy with her life but she does miss having a man to spend time with and care about.  And if she is being honest with herself, there is one specific man she would like to be involved with. That man would be Danny Mayfield.  Ever since high school, she has had a bit of a crush on him.  But after she finds out that he only invited her to prom because his mother asked him to, she cannot face him.  In fact, she avoids him.  So when a series of mishaps occur and Danny is the one to rescue her, she is embarrassed but also very excited.  And when he begins to ask to spend more time with her, she wants to but she is afraid to.  But he convinces her that he did not ask her to prom as a pity date and that he wants to spend time with her and get to know her again, so she finally agrees.  She cannot help herself, he has held a special place in her heart.

The characters are well rounded and well developed.  I enjoyed getting to meet Susan and Danny and spending time with them.  They are both people that you can like and want only the best for them.  I also enjoyed getting to know Susan’s friend and employee, Betsy, and her love interest, John.  I really enjoyed reading about Susan’s and Betsy’s conversations and the funny things that they did.  They had me smiling through much of the book.

The author is very talented in her descriptive writing and through most of the book I felt like I was right there watching all of the activities going on around me.  I loved the small town setting, with all the nosy neighbors and everyone knowing everyone else’s business.  I would definitely enjoy visiting this small town and be able to visit all the shops on Main Street and meet all of the people of the community.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted Romantic Comedy.  I plan on reading the other books in this series because I want to visit Cricket Creek again.
