Synopsis:

Leah Bayard doesn’t have time for a relationship. She’s an up and coming securities attorney with one thing on her mind: her career. But when she meets Tristan Ward, the gorgeous new British CFO for her brother’s tech startup, Reliance Software, Leah decides she might have a little time in her schedule for a friends-with-benefits relationship. No strings attached, of course.

As things heat up between them, Leah gets a career changing ultimatum from her boss. He’s had it out for Tristan for years, and now he wants Leah to get inside information to help out a friend who’s investigating Reliance’s IPO. If she doesn’t help, Leah can say goodbye to not only her job, but her reputation. Now, she has to make a decision that will change the course of her life: hold on to the first real relationship she’s ever had with a man she’s come to love, or give all that up to pursue the career of her dreams.

Review:

Jeannie Moon has done it again and given the reader a great story with good flow and interesting and complex characters. She weaves her other stories in but allows each story to stand alone in their own right.

Leah an ambitious attorney is smart outspoken and leery of business romances and commitment. Burnt in the past with an office romance, she decides when she meets Tristan Wade, a CFO for her brothers firm that friendship will be what she will maintain with him in spite of the physical attraction and hot sex that is offered.

Tristan knows from the beginning that trust is what is all important to Leah. He gradually builds up her trust in him and they begin to strengthen their relationship. Everything goes well until Tristan’s past comes back to haunt him and destroys the trust Leah has in him.

Leah doesn’t like anyone making her decisions for her and when her career and relationships are threatened she has to make difficult decisions on her own. Even her loving and concerned family can’t help her.

Having a past of blowing off steam and hurting the people she loves, Leah must think long and hard on what she truly wants out of life.

Jeannie Moon has strong independent main female characters from all walks of life and handsome rich leading men who in spite of their wealth turn out to be decent caring people. She writes great stories with lovely supporting characters that I have loved from previous books; I know I am really looking forward to more Jeannie Moon stories. I hope to hear what Amy (Leah’s sister) does with her life and who her leading man will be. Maybe a Christmas release!
