WHY ARE VAMPIRES SO SEXY?

I don’t get it.

Twilight— a teen vampire novel that was turned into a movie directed by McAllen’s own Catherine Hardwicke — debuted in November of last year.

We should be over it by now.

Of all things on Earth, why are vampires — not werewolves, mummies or zombies — so sexy? Whatever happened to fawning over real people like pop stars or celebrities?

Vampires,  aren’t exactly kind and gentle, seeing as how they use their fangs to bite into humans and suck out one’s blood. Legends say that after being bitten, human victims themselves turn into vampires — not an ideal date if you ask me.

I saw Twilight at a friend’s house out of curiosity. I can see the film’s appeal to young women, but when I’ve asked people why they thought vampires or Twilight in particular was so popular, I’ve never gotten much of an answer.

Vampires aren’t gentle, so what? I think that’s part of the draw, for me at least. The danger, always walking on that fine line of you could die. And it’s like a rule that all vampires are hot, which doesn’t help! 🙂
