unexpected-rush-jaci-burtonHarmony Evans was just dumped by her self-serving boyfriend.  But Harmony quickly sets her eyes on the man she’s had a crush on for years, Barrett Cassidy.  The problem?  He’s her brother, Drake’s, best friend and fellow team mate on the Tampa Hawks football team.  Barrett refuses to break some unspoken man code by dating his buddy’s sister.  But after Barrett is forced to work closely with Harmony on the remodel of the home he just bought, he can only resist for so long.

Barrett finally gives in to Harmony’s advances, but they decide to keep what’s going on between them a secret.  But will their love survive the fallout when the truth comes out?  Not to mention, what will it do to Barrett and Drake’s friendship?

This is one of my favorite books in the Play-by-Play series!  I loved it from start to finish!  I liked Harmony and her one-track mind when it came to snagging Barrett for her very own!  Even if it made Barrett go against his own morals and sense of right and wrong… he broke the man code afterall!

And, of course I LOVED Barrett.  Burton knows how to write a sexy male lead afterall!  I loved the loyalty he felt toward his family and friends, and of course his love for Harmony, after he finally could admit his feelings to himself!

I honestly couldn’t believe Harmony and Barrett were able to keep their relationship secret for so long.  I was expecting the paparazzi or that fan that took their picture to blow the truth clear out of the water.

I felt bad for Barrett once he finally told Drake the truth and everyone seemed to turn on him.  I could understand Drake’s anger. His best friend did lie to him for months about his baby sister.  What I didn’t understand was Harmony’s anger toward Barrett.  Yes, he kept them secret … but if she put up with it for that long, why get upset when he finally comes clean?  I didn’t think it was fair to Barrett that she turned her back on him just because he and Drake got into a fight, knowing her brother she should have expected it!

But Barrett’s take me back speech … *swoon* not to mention the last few pages of the book.

I was a little surprised how easily Drake and Barrett were able to work things out considering how angry Drake was.

This was a great book and a fun read that any romance fan will be sure to enjoy!
