TWILIGHT SAGA NEWS: COMIC CON, TWILIGHT PROM SITE BURNS, BILLY BURKE GETS FREAKY, 100 MONKEYS, & MORE

SITE OF “TWILIGHT” PROM GOES UP IN FLAMES

The historic View Point Inn near Portland, Oregon, went up in flames on Sunday, causing extensive damage to the site of the prom scene from “Twilight”.   Famous even before it made an appearance in the Twilight Saga as the site of the Forks High School prom, the hotel is on the National Register of Historic Places.  It was built in 1924 and was visited by President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

I hated to see this story because it’s always sad to see historic buildings destroyed.  I hope that they have good insurance and can restore the property to it’s former glory.

BILLY BURKE TO GET “FREAKY DEAKY”

According to Variety, Billy Burke is slated to take on the role of an LAPD Bomb Squad officer in a new film titled “Freaky Deaky”.  Burke will join Christian Slater and Michael Jai White in the film after a big casting shakeup replacing Matt Dillon, Brendan Fraser, Craig Robinson, and Katie Cassidy.   Variety reports a summary of the plot:

Burke is now set to play an LAPD bomb squad officer who stumbles upon two former hippie activists plotting to use their bomb-making skills to bilk a movie mogul out of millions.

Slater and Racano will play the ex-hippes, while White will play a former Black Panther turned capitalist who serves as an assistant to the Hollywood honcho. As for Bart, he’ll play a cop partnered with Burke.

Hmmm…Billy Burke as a cop, huh?  I have to admit that he has a knack for pulling it off well.   If you haven’t seen him in “Untraceable”, check him out.   He also made a great FBI agent in his appearance on TNT’s “Rizzoli and Isles”.  He made one heck of a creepy, slimy lawyer on “The Closer” and I hope that they bring him back in that role!
