‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ composer announced

Back in December, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse director David Slade remarked on the progress he and his team had made in acquiring a composer for the film’s score.

Been quite a week, we almost have our composer, all fingers crossed for some great news soon.

Now, it seems, that composer has been announced! Drumroll, please. . .

According to MovieScore Magazine, Eclipse’s composer will be Howard Shore.

Shore has served as the composer for dozens and dozens of films, including (but most definitely not limited to) The Fly, Big, The Silence Of The Lambs, Single White Female, Prelude To A Kiss, Sliver, Mrs. Doubtfire, The Client, Ed Wood, Se7en, Philadelphia, Crash, That Thing You Do!, High Fidelity, Dogma, Panic Room, The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring, The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers, The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King, The Aviator, The Departed, A History Of Violence, Doubt, Eastern Promises, and, most recently, Edge Of Darkness.

Shore has also won three Oscars and received dozens of further accolades for his work. He follows as the third composer in the Twilight series (behind Carter Burwell for Twilight and Alexandre Desplat for The Twilight Saga: New Moon).
Sounds great, huh (due pun)?

Robert Pattinson to Get a Record Deal from Simon Cowell?

Although fans of Robert Pattinson didn’t hear the Twilight Saga star sing on the New Moon soundtrack, Pattinson may have a career in music beyond movies if American Idol judge, Simon Cowell, has his way. The latest Robert Pattinson related rumor has it that American Idol judge, Simon Cowell, is pursuing Pattinson to sign a record deal.

According to AceShowBiz, Robert Pattinson may be jumping back into the music world, as unconfirmed reports suggest Simon Cowell is looking to sign Pattinson to a record deal. In the Robert Pattinson report, which comes via an anonymous source, there is also mention that other record companies are also pursuing Pattinson to cut an album. Apparently, as the rumor goes, a bidding war is at play to ink Robert Pattinson to a record deal. However, the report suggests Robert Pattinson is hesitant to get in with Simon Cowell, as a source revealed to The Sun. “He is a bit wary of signing up with Cowell who is, of course, associated with ‘The X Factor’ and pop,”

Although Robert Pattinson cut two songs for the Twilight soundtrack, and has expressed interest in musical endeavors, it’s hard to think Pattinson would have time for a music career with so much non Twilight work on his plate.

Twilight Star Robert Pattinson Helps in Hope for Haiti

After Twilight and New Moon fans wondered whether Robert Pattinson would lend his Twilight Saga celebrity to the Hope for Haiti Telethon, Pattinson and the Hollywood community came out in droves on January 22 to help with the Hope for Haiti telethon. All eyes were on New Moon actor Robert Pattinson, who earlier this week agreed to participate in Hope for Haiti to aid the earthquake ravaged people of Haiti. During the Hope for Haiti Telethon, Robert Pattinson read a moving statement via satellite from London.

According to MTV, Twilight and New Moon actor Robert Pattinson appeared on camera from London sporting a full beard and stressed the importance that technology has played in the ongoing relief efforts in Haiti. In making his statement, Robert Pattinson read the story of a young Haitian girl who was trapped under rubble for six days and was rescued because of a text message she sent while unable to move.

Although Robert Pattinson is the biggest star of the Twilight Saga, Pattinson wasn’t the only New Moon cast member involved in the Hope for Haiti Telethon, as Taylor Lautner and Anna Kendrick were also on hand in L.A. to help on the phones and take donations from generous callers.

Below is the heartwarming story Robert Pattinson read to viewers in his Hope for Haiti appearance:

“Underneath a flattened university, Maxine Fallon waited. She was crouched in a fetal position and could barely move. In the darkness and during the hectic sounds of the day, through the pain, the hunger and thirst, she prayed that someone would find her. And on the sixth day her prayers were answered, she was found because of a text message from the rubble sent rescuers to her side. Unlike any other event in history, our world has been connected to this tragedy because of technology. Twitter updates, Facebook pages with pictures of the missing and text messages for help. This technology is working right now to connect us, too. At hopeforhaitinow.org, you can donate and you can instantly interact with people in Haiti and anywhere in the globe. Join with those watching and see what they’re saying about something we all care deeply about – helping the Haitian people get back on their feet. Please go to hopeforhaitinow.org. Thank you.”

Thanks to Twilight Source reader (and Barnes & Noble employee) Meredith who has let us know about an exclusive item to be included with the New Moon DVD at Barnes & Noble bookstores:

Barnes & Noble will be selling the standard two-disc sets in both DVD and Blu-ray that most other retailers will be selling. But, we will also and primarily be selling special “BN Exclusive” editions of both the two-disc DVD and the two-disc Blu-ray sets. Could Isle Esme Get Too Sexy for Twilight Fans?

Intensely passionate, painfully romantic, and endearingly beautiful are only a few words that come to mind when reading Isle Esme (chapter 5) in Stephenie Meyer’s last Twilight installment, Breaking Dawn. Meyer spent over 1,765 pages building up to this monumental chapter, in which Bella and Edward travel to Isle Esme to celebrate their honeymoon, and finally consummate their love as newlyweds.

Breaking Dawn the film is not final; however, it seems to be inevitable at this point, prompting the actors to talk about the sensitive nature of the subject matter. The cross generational books have brought together generations and given them a common bond, but will that all change when Breaking Dawn hits theaters in the future?

Bella remarks on page 83 of Breaking Dawn , “How did people do this — swallow all their fears and trust someone else so implicitly with every imperfection and fear they had — with less than the absolute commitment that Edward had given me? If it weren’t Edward out there, if I didn’t know in every cell of my body that he loved me as much as I loved him — unconditionally and irrevocably and, to be honest, irrationally — I’d never be able to get up off this floor.”

Jason Momoa Gets ‘Conan’ Role

There’s another Conan battle going on, and it’s not about late-night television. I’m talking about Conan the Barbarian. Jason Momoa, best known to audiences of Stargate: Atlantis as Ronon Dex and Khal Drogo in HBO’s Game of Thrones, will play Conan the Barbarian in a new film scheduled to shoot this spring in Bulgaria. Jason Momoa was up against Kellan Lutz. Sorry, Twilight fans.

The character written by Robert E. Howard was first popularized on the big screen by Arnold Schwarzenegger.

No word on if James Earl Jones’ character, Thulsa Doom, will be reimagined, or he’ll still turn into a snake. One hopes so.

Nikki Reed goes to school

TWILIGHT star Nikki Reed returned to school in 2008 after fearing she wasn’t as well-read as she should be.

The actress quit her lessons when she was 14, after the success of “Thirteen” – the movie she wrote and starred in – and tried to homeschool herself.
Reed didn’t do a bad job and managed to pass all her high school exams but fears she missed out on her literary education – because she wasn’t surrounded by people she could discuss great books with.

She says, “I started taking college courses… not to complete, not for a degree… just because I felt like I missed a lot – like Catcher In The Rye and books that are part of the curriculum that I’d skipped a lot. ” The actress is also studying Greek after falling in love with Greece while living there in between the two “Twilight” sequels. ACS investigates photo of headless dog

Anonymous Internet users of the inflammatory sort, otherwise known as “trolls,” are descending upon and disseminating a photograph that appears to depict someone displaying the bloody, severed head of a dog.

Prodded by a rumor that the dog decapitators are San Antonio youths, the Police Department and Animal Care Services are investigating the photograph, ACS spokeswoman Lisa Norwood said.

“We still don’t know that any laws were broken,” Norwood said. “Photoshop can do wonders.”

Norwood said she couldn’t provide any details of the investigation because it’s ongoing.

But she acknowledged rumors — some outlandish — that are echoing across chat rooms and Web sites of questionable taste with regard to the troubling photograph.

Among them: The Alamo City teenagers are embroiled in a bizarre role-playing game that emulates “Twilight,” a series of novels and films that depicts vampires and werewolves in battle, and the youths deem the headless dog a vanquished werewolf.

“There are references to ‘Twilight,’ among other things,” Norwood said. “I don’t know if you’re familiar with the ‘Twilight’ series, but it certainly doesn’t espouse animal cruelty.”

She also warned the alleged crime could be just as fictional as the popular series.

“The Internet is a big, wide world,” Norwood said, “and it can often be rife with innuendo, allegations and outright hoax.”

Are you or anyone you know heading to the Vampire Baseball this year?

I am so excited to hear that Howard Shore is composing ‘Eclipse’. With his wipe repertoire of films he has composed, I am confident that he will do it justice.

I’m happy that Rob is possibly getting a record deal. In most interviews he has expressed that he thinks he is more of a musician versus an actor and that is where is true passion lies. I hope he has great success in the music business along with the film industry.

I really appreciate that celebrities use their names for good, with the example of the Haiti Telethon. Fans get to donate money to an amazing cause while speaking to a celebrity.

Will you pre-order New Moon at B&N?

I think the headless dog story is quite disturbing. I think the idea that theses kids could blame a movie for them doing something so inhumane to an innocent animal is disgusting and cruel. I hope justice  is brought to the guilty parties.
