STEPHENIE MEYER TALKS VAMPIRES, MIDNIGHT SUN, AND “BREAKING DAWN” WITH FANS
USA Today has published a top-secret interview between Stephenie Meyer and ten very lucky “Twilight” fans that took place over two days in Vancouver. In the interview, she talks about The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide that hits store shelves on April 12 as well as the often-asked questions about completing Midnight Sun. She also spills a little on what fans can expect to see in “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn”, on which she has been working as a producer.
With regards to the long-awaited illustrated guide, Meyer says:
“My favorite part is the vampire histories. There’s a lot there that’s new. Alice’s (Cullen) back story is one no one has known until now. And I think fans will be surprised at how much fun (Cullen nemesis) Victoria’s story is.”
When asked whether she would ever write about Edward and Bella again, she replied with the same response she has given for the past couple of years that their story is complete.
“The story’s already been told, and I doubt I’ll ever write another series based on the same characters.”
One of the most-often questions asked of the author did not escape being asked once again. When or will she ever complete Midnight Sun? She did not state that she would never finish it, but she didn’t make any promises that she would do it.
“I’m hoping to do it someday because I know that’s what people want. No matter what book I put out from here to eternity they’ll want Midnight Sun, but I’m just not writing about vampires right now.”
What kind of book can fans expect to see in the future? She is working on a sequel to The Host and plans for it to be a trilogy. She has outlined a book about mermaids and she’s got a fantasy book in the works where people are using bows and arrows and swords with a little bit of magic thrown into the mix that she states is “very dark”.
Fans were given the opportunity to sit down with the author and ask her all sorts of questions and there was one question that she did not answer – can Jacob and Renesmee have children? Her reasoning for avoiding that question was that she might want to revisit those characters someday:
“That is a question I’m reserving the right not to answer, because there is a chance I’ll go back to their story.”
Meyer confirms reports that the wedding has yet to be filmed, but does tell fans that Bella’s dress has a “vintage feel” while having “an edge to it”.

What do you think of this interview with Stephenie Meyer? Oh, how I wish that I could have had such an amazing opportunity to sit down with her and pick her brain.
What do you think of her choosing not to write about Edward and Bella anymore? In the past she has stated that Bella’s story is complete and that now that she’s a vampire, her relatability to the readers is no longer what it once was. Do you agree with her logic or would you like to see more about Edward and Bella years down the line after she’s been a vampire for a while?
I like hearing that she might pick up a series with Jacob and Renesmee and that she’s not going to dish on whether they will have any vamp-puppies in the future.
I know that fans can’t resist asking about Midnight Sun, but don’t you think that she might be more inclined to work on it if we’d all just leave her alone and stop asking? My mom brain sees it like kids continually asking for something and you finally just say no because you’re so tired of hearing the question.
