For almost two years, Fox’s sci-fi hit “Fringe” has been placing all its major characters, not to mention the world, in mortal jeopardy. It’s business as usual to discover that slimy, multiclawed aliens have burrowed under a victim’s skin and devoured him from inside. But for sheer intensity, nothing has come close to what viewers will see Thursday, when “Fringe” returns from vacation to start closing out season two.
