TRUE BLOOD NEWS: RENEWED FOR SEASON 5, ALAN BALL’S NEW SHOW AND MORE!

True Blood Renewed for Season 5 via HollyWood Crush

HBO announced today that they’ve renewed “True Blood” for a fifth season, which will go into production later this year, and we couldn’t be more thrilled.

Creator Alan Ball didn’t seem to have any doubts about the show coming back for another year during last month’s Comic-Con, teasing several different plot points that will be hit in future seasons. And, not surprisingly, we also have a few ideas about what we’d like to see happen in season five of “True Blood.” Check ours (and his) out…

We Want: More Love Interests
More?! you may ask. Yes, more, more, more! Sure, Sookie already has a pretty full load of men vying for her affections with Eric, Bill, Alcide and Sam floating around, but since we don’t see Eric being without his memories for another season, it’s time for someone new to enter the fray. My vote: Quinn. The weretiger will at least give Eric a run for his money as the Shreveport sheriff struggles to deal with not remembering his recent romp with Ms. Stackhouse, and we’ll have another love triangle to look forward to.

We Want: Fewer Storylines!
We get it, there are plenty of great characters on “True Blood” with their own colorful stories going on, but enough is enough. There has been way too much going on over the past few seasons of the show, and though the story ends up being tied together fairly neatly, we’d appreciate it if there were fewer plotlines floating around. And it could give us more time to swoon over Eric.

See the full list here.

I figured True Blood would be back for next season and I already can’t wait.  I agree with this article though I would love to see Quinn next season and I would love to know who they’d cast to play him.

True Blood’s New Dark and Sexy Style via the hollywood reporter

HBO’s True Blood is undergoing a chic style transformation this year. Now in the midst of Season 4, the Southern vampire thriller has already seen Bill Compton become the King of Louisiana, while Vampire Eric’s memory has been erased and sizzling vampire Pam has been cursed with a flesh-rotting spell.

As the character’s plot arcs have progressed, their costumes have evolved in tandem. As True Blood costume designer Audrey Fisher tells The Hollywood Reporter, Bill Compton (played by Stephen Moyer) is dressing more formally since getting his royal title, while the goth-influenced wardrobes of Pam (Kristin Bauer) and Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) have reached sexy and edgy new heights.

See what Fisher has to say about the change in the different characters new styles here.

There’s one big no-no on set: even if something is made from silver, that bane of vampires, don’t dare say so. “We always say it’s platinum or white gold,” says Fisher.

I can definitely see a difference in Bill’s wardrobe and Pam is looking especially kick-ass this season, rotting flesh not withstanding.  But I’ve only seen Eric in gym shorts and a sweatshirt…I’m not seeing his wardrobe as sexy at all except the scenes with lack of clothing that is!!

Denis O’hare hoping to reinvent Russell via Access Hollywood

“True Blood” creator Alan Ball has said he’d like to bring Russell Edgington back to Bon Temps in Season 5, but Denis O’Hare expects a different sort of former Mississippi vampire king when his ancient character returns.

“The trick is — and these guys are better at it than I am — but the trick is to reinvent [Russell], because he can’t come back and be the same guy,” Denis told Access Hollywood on Saturday. “He’s gotta come back transformed in some way and in a surprising way and I look forward to whatever they’re choosing to do with him.”

Denis, who stars in Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s “American Horror Story” on FX, which premieres on Oct. 5, said it’s all in the “True Blood” writers’ hands regarding his return to the HBO show. But, when asked if he, personally, expects Russell to come back from his cased-in-concrete Season 3 ending, bent on avenging the staking death of his longtime love Talbot, Denis said he thinks his character would return with a much more surprising set of motives.

“The thing I love about him is his dreams aren’t petty. He’s never motivated by anything petty, so I can’t imagine if he came back he’d be motivated by simple revenge,” Denis said. “I think he’s always out for something bigger. “

One thing for sure is that Russell will come back with a bang that will leave us all begging for more!!

Joe Manganiello makes fans howl at photo call via celebuzz

TV’s hottest wolf Joe Manganiello sure cleans up nicely! Although we like his rugged (and often shirtless) screen time on True Blood, he definitely fills out a suit well.

The actor is currently running with his pack all over Europe promoting the show. He was snapped today for a photo call at Hotel Bayerischer Hof in Munich, Germany. He was recently in London at the ITV Studios, where he said he “had a blast.” View more pics here.

Yum…enough said!!

Alan Ball could have a new series via Los Angeles Times

Alan Ball has one of the most popular shows on cable with HBO’s “True Blood.” Now he could be a double threat via HBO’s sister network.

The creator will executive produce a new series called “Banshee” that will serve as a key plank in Cinemax’s original programming push.

The series will be set in a small town in Pennsylvania Amish Country (the titular Banshee), according to a person who was briefed on the project, and feature an enigmatic ex-con who’s also an expert in martial arts. Darkly comic in tone, the show will have the ex-con posing as a murdered sheriff, imposing his own brand of justice while also cooking up plans that serve his own interests. Unlike the sagas of Sookie Stackhouse, there will be no supernatural element to the series.

“Banshee” is not expected to affect Ball’s schedule on ‘True Blood.” Ball recently told the Television Critics Assn. that he’s close to a deal for a fifth season of the Anna Paquin-Stephen Moyer vampire show. The fourth season is currently airing on HBO.

I know they say this won’t affect True Blood, but I can’t help but wonder if it will shorten it’s run if the new series is equally successful…
