JAMES FRAIN TRUE BLOOD’S MOST DEMENTED VAMPIRE

True Blood’s newest vampire, Franklin, played by British actor James Frain (of The Tudors), is a delightfully sick bounty hunter who falls madly in love with a human, Tara (Rutina Wesley). He’s a possessive fellow with a sadistic streak, and we spoke to Frain about playing him for laughs, his weirdly long fangs, and what the heck a British vamp is doing in Louisiana.

Did you know, initially, what this character was all about?
No, they didn’t actually tell me much at all. I went to an audition and we had a couple of scenes — the first meeting with Tara at the bar, and then one of the scenes in which I’m really distraught at her trying to get away, and really, there was nothing about it that seemed like it wasn’t just a torturous romantic story.

ANN WOLL SAYS IT’S TOUGH PLAYING AN ETERNAL VIRGIN

Eternal youth isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Just ask American actress Deborah Ann Woll, who plays teenage vampire Jessica Hamby on acclaimed HBO drama series True Blood.

Speaking with Asian media last month from Los Angeles, where she is based, the 25-year-old redhead explained: “It’s really interesting that we romanticise the idea of eternal youth.

“But when you think about being a teenager, and how strenuous and difficult that can be, would you really want to live at that age forever and ever?”

Indeed, Jessica, a “pious, church-going” virgin before she was transformed into one of the undead, doesn’t have it easy.

ALAN BALL WEAVING POLITICAL PLOT

If you are a fan of some of the vampire politicking that has pervaded through the first handful of episodes of “True Blood” this season, then you’re in luck — series exec Alan Ball says to expect more of it.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Ball believes that the fantasy series has some messages buried underneath the surface that translate to the real world:

“As we get deeper and deeper into the hierarchy of the vampire political system, it in some way raises some interesting questions that I think might be appropriate to our own political system…”
