The Nine Lives of Chloe King– Season 1 Ep 1“Pilot”–Originally aired Tuesday, June 14, 2011

The show opens with Chloe frantically running through a forest. She scans the trees around her as she does. Two people dressed in a dark blue hoodie and jeans are chasing her. Chloe breaks free of the forest and runs through a parking lot into a tower-typed building, heading up a flight of stairs to the top as the men chase her. She realizes there’s no where to go. She looks over the ledge and sees the guys who were chasing her are searching the grounds below, having not spotted her yet. Chloe turns around, thinking she can get away, but a man steps in front of her. He has a scar on his left cheek and says “Goodbye, Chloe” before pushing her over the ledge.

Chloe wakes up to her mother knocking on her bedroom door telling her she needs to get up for school or she’s going to be late. Chloe lazily gets out of bed and heads to her bathroom. Her mother is putting breakfast on the table threatening if she doesn’t get downstairs in five seconds she will head upstairs. Chloe walks downstairs, suddenly already ready, and tells her mother to calm down. She grabs a Pop-tart and heads toward the door but her mother tells her to stop and sit down. They talk about school and Chloe heads off to meet her friends Amy and Paul

Amy and Paul have Chloe blow out a candle on her birthday cupcake. Amy is excited because its going to be Chloe’s sixteenth birthday the next day. Paul asked her what she wished for. Chloe wished for things to be different. She’d liked to finally be kissed by a boy. She wants to do something special, be noticed. As she is speaking she walking along the thin railing of the bench they are all sitting on. Paul and Amy look impressed. Paul asks how she’s able to do that. Chloe jumps off and says she’s easy. She continues ranting saying she wants to do something dangerous, something different since she’s tired of being the good girl. Paul tries to balance himself on the thin railing the same way Chloe did but falls off. Amy tells Chloe the plan is to meet up for dinner after she has band practice. Chloe wants to do something different for a change. Paul asks her what else she would want to do.

Chloe, Amy, and Paul head to a club. Since they are too young to get, Chloe has them sneak in through the back entrance. Chloe catches the eye of a nice looking young man and tries to flirt with him but the guy discovers she isn’t exactly the age required to be in the club (21 and over). Chloe begs him not to say anything and he just laughs and confesses he is using his brother’s ID to sneak into the club. Chloe smiles and asks him to dance with her. After a while, Chloe and the boy she was dancing with leave the club. He invites her back to his brother’s place since it’s close by but Chloe informs him she isn’t that type of girl. She hands him her phone and he puts in his number. Chloe finally learns his name is Xavier. She turns to leave but stops and runs back to Xavier and kisses him. He offers to give her a ride home but Chloe declines and walks home. The same man with the scarred face, watches her as she goes.

The next day Chloe heads to school. She reprimands Amy for ditching her at the club along with Paul but forgives them because she had a fabulous night. She goes on to tell Amy all about Xavier and their kiss. Amy freaks out excitedly. Chloe continues to rattle on as the head jock of the school, Alec, walks toward them. Amy is in love with him even though she’s never met him. Alec starts throwing his basketball just above Chloe’s head and catching the ball. Chloe finally gets fed up and catches the ball then tells him if he wants to play ball to go somewhere else. She throws the basketball down the hallway and it hit’s the wall and lands in the garbage can. Everyone in the hall stares back at her shocked including Chloe herself. Chloe grabs Amy’s hand and they run off.

Later, Chloe walks out of her class as the bell rings and is heading for her next class when Alec stops her. He tells her she was impressive earlier when she threw the basketball but Chloe just giggles nervously and says it was a lucky shot. Alec blatantly makes a pass at her and goes into kiss Chloe but a girl runs down the stairs shouting his name. Alec turns around and Chloe takes off running down the hall.

Chloe is at her job. She works at a small clothing store. She hears a song playing on her co-workers ipod and tells her to turn it up. Her co-worker is surprised she can hear the song in the first place. A cute guy walks in and Chloe goes to help. He asks for her opinion on a hat he tries on and confesses he had been packing in hurry since he returned home to help with family stuff. The cute guy introduces himself as Bryan and Chloe introduces herself. Chloe blurts out she is in the store from 3-6 and quickly adds in case he forgot to pack anything else. Bryan smiles and says maybe he’ll see her around some time between 3 and 6. Bryan leaves.

After work Chloe is walking, paying more attention to her phone as she texts Amy who is bugging her about Chloe being late for her birthday dinner. A man on a bicycle yells and swerves not to hit her and Chloe jumps on top of a car to keep from being hit. Both the man and Chloe are surprised. He asks how she was able to move so fast but Chloe doesn’t know. She gets off the car and takes off running, performing jumps over different obstacles and is amazed at how fast she can move and how agile she is.

Chloe and Amy are at a restaurant for Chloe’s birthday dinner. Amy thinks Chloe might have some sort of super power but Chloe doesn’t think the ability to jump over a dumpster is a super power. She just has this surge of energy and knows she can do it. She can also hear things and points this out to Amy by telling the waiter serving this really annoying customer food, spit in the guy’s food. The other waiters laugh knowingly as the guy eats. Amy says their obviously has to be some other kind of explanation other than the fact that Chloe is a freak. Chloe jabs back that Amy is worthless jokingly then comments she can’t believe Paul is missing the dinner, he would be so into her story since he loves all thing comic book related. Amy confesses she told Paul not to come. Chloe asks why. Amy tells her because she and Paul had made out. Chloe is shocked. Amy tells her it happened the night before when they were dancing. Amy promises Chloe she doesn’t need to worry about being a third wheel. Chloe is just still so surprised, she never knew Amy had feelings for Paul. Amy says she didn’t know until they kissed. Then the girl who had yelled out Alec’s name at the school walks in. Chloe tires to duck to hide herself but Amy waves to the girl, telling Chloe her name is Jasmine and she’s Alec’s cousin. She asks Chloe why she even cares. Chloe finally confesses Alec tried to kiss her at school. Amy freaks out and wants to know if she let Alec kiss her. Chloe says no but she did shamelessly throw herself at a guy at her job. Amy asks if the guy threw back and Chloe says he did. Amy is in shock.

Chloe’s mom calls her asking where she is since she promised to be home an hour ago. Chloe tells her she’s paying and will be home in a few. Amy tells she can’t leave yet until they make a plan. Chloe is to wait a day then call club boy (Xavier) but Chloe says he isn’t really in the picture, he was more like drive by flirting but Amy says Xavier stays on the list. She tries to convince Chloe to see where things can go with Alec but Chloe refuses. She says Bryan is definitely on the list. They get up to go pay the check. Amy asks Chloe if she would be willing to do a double date with her and Paul. Chloe is skeptical. She isn’t so sure she is going to see Bryan again and it would be weird but she is still happy for her and Paul. Amy thanks her and Chloe takes off. The same man with the scar on his cheek was in the restaurant watching her.

Chloe is stopped by a homeless man who asks her for some change but Chloe says she doesn’t have any. The homeless man grabs her arm and tells her then maybe she can give him something else. Chloe yells help and tries to push the homeless man off of her. She scratches her nails across his cheek and the homeless man stumbles backwards. Chloe looks at her nails, they extend in size like cat nails.

Chloe gets home and hugs her mother. Her mother asks if she’s okay and Chloe says she’s fine, she apologizes for being late. Her mother tells her its fine since it’s her birthday. Chloe says she’s gonna head to her room but her mom stops her and tells her she isn’t going anywhere until she blows out the candle on her cake so she can have some. Chloe warns her mom against singing happy birthday and Chloe mom’s says she was never the singer that was her dad but stops herself from going any further. Chloe tells her, it’s okay, her father left ten years ago and she’s fine. Chloe’s mom hugs her and they sit down to eat cake. Chloe’s mom asks her what she had done with her friends for her birthday. Chloe confesses she went dancing and met a boy but stops her mom from squealing or hugging her. She confesses she also met another boy that afternoon at work. But doesn’t think anything’s going to happen since she has a lot going on right now. Her mom laughs and wants to know what she has going on. Chloe goes quiet. Chloe’s mom grows concerned. Chloe asks if her mom knows anything about her birth parents. Chloe’s mom tells her she only knows what Chloe knows, which is basically nothing. Chloe can’t believe there are no records anywhere. Chloe’s mom tells her everything was chaotic when she was adopted. Ukraine was a new country and her dad was working in the country when he saw Chloe in an orphanage and fell in love with her. Chloe wants to know how her dad even got her out of the country if there are no records. Chloe’s mom goes silent and Chloe wants to know what’s going on. Chloe’s mom tells her catiously she thinks money might have exchanged hands. Chloe is outraged, she can’t believe her father stole her from the country. Chloe’s mom assures her that isn’t what happened, that’s just how stuff was done. Chloe heads upstairs to go to bed and tells her mother she loves her.

The next day, Chloe is helping Amy shop at the small clothes store she works at. Chloe is trying to talk to Amy about all the weird changes happening to her but Amy is more interested in Chloe making plans with Xavier. Amy grabs Chloe’s phone and calls Xavier before Chloe can stop her. She hands the phone to Chloe and Chloe leaves a quick awkward message. The screen cuts to Xavier who is lying on the floor of his house, dead.

Chloe is closing up the store with Amy when Bryan shows up. Bryan asks her if she wants to go get a cup of coffee with him but Chloe says she has plans with Amy. But Amy cuts her off and says she’s parting ways with Chloe since they have no plans whatsoever. She throws the store keys to Chloe and heads off. Chloe and Bryan go on their date. They talk about their parents. Chloe had found an email address her mom had hidden for her dad and emailed her dad but never got any responses. She isn’t sure if he’s actually alive. Bryan’s mom had passed away and he has a rocky relationship with his dad ever since his mom passed away. A man walks by the table they are sitting at outside and his dog starts to bark at Chloe, almost attacking her. Chloe jumps out of her seat and grabs onto Bryan’s arm practically digging her nails into him. The man apologizes and Chloe decides to head home. Bryan stops her first and asks if they can hang out again. Chloe says she could like that then leaves.

Chloe is walking through the same forest she had been at the beginning of the show. She sees a man is following her with a scarred face and starts to run as she notices to other man chasing after her. Once again Chloe heads upstairs of the building she runs into but there’s no way out. The man with the scarred face throws her over the ledge and Chloe hit’s the ground. A woman screams and people start to swarm around her. The scarred face man runs down the stairs. Chloe opens her eyes. Just as the scarred man arrives outside, Chloe is gone. She is running through the forest again. One of the people dressed in the dark blue hoodie pounces on her, knocking her to the ground. Chloe is about to attack when Alec comes from behind her and tells it’s okay, him and his cousin Jasmine are trying to help her.

Alec and Jasmine are running with Chloe in an abandoned lot. Blabbering about how they followed her because Alec thought Chloe was already transforming. Alec jumps on top of a van and looks around to make sure they aren’t being followed. Chloe doesn’t understand what’s going on. Jasmine says things usually aren’t explained like this but her transformation happened faster than expected. Chloe doesn’t understand what she means. Alec asks her if had been born in the Ukraine. Chloe confirms she was but wants to know how he knows. Alex says they can’t explain stuff in the open and grabs her arm and runs across the street with her and Jasmine. They head to a rooftop. Alec thinks they should head into hiding but Chloe doesn’t want to go anywhere until they explain what is happening and why some scarred face dude is trying to kill her. Jasmine promises they will answer all her questions. Chloe asks what are they. Alec explains they, like her, are Mye. Jasmine explains they are descendents of an ancient race. Not completely human. They are the offspring of Beset, the most powerful of all the goddesses. There was a time when Mye and humans had a special relationship. They were sworn protectors until they had a falling out. Alec says they were tired of following orders. Jasmine disagrees and says they broke their scared bound. Alec says that’s just one interpretation but what matters is that they are being hunted down. Chloe is having trouble believing them. Alec changes the subject and starts asking about the guy she was having coffee with, if he was her boyfriend. Chloe tells him that’s none of his business. Jasmine interjects and says she almost had a heart attack when she thought Chloe was going to kiss Alec at school. Alec explains My and humans can’t be intimate. Chloe asks what happens if a human and a MY kiss. Alec explains the human can wind up in a state of paralysis or dead. Jasmine tries to reassure Chloe by telling her that Bryan will be fine since they were keeping an eye on them and nothing happened. But Chloe tells her Bryan isn’t the one she is worried about.

Jasmine, Alec, and Chloe head to check on Xavier where they find police cars around his apartment and his body in a body bag being led into an ambulance. Chloe is crying and just wants to go home. Jasmine and Alec offer to take her home but Chloe snaps at them and says she can get home on her own. Alec clarifies he wants to take her to their home. They need to find out why the Order is chasing after Chloe. They usually doesn’t attack so in the open. The Order are the ones dedicated to the extinction of their kind. Alec tells Chloe she won’t be too happy if the guy in the park who was chasing her catches her. Chloe informs them that already happened. He tossed her off the side of the building. Alec is surprised she is still alive. Jasmine says the Uniter is the only one who has nine lives. Alec doesn’t believe Chloe is the Uniter. Jasmine tells Chloe they aren’t supposed to save her, she is supposed to save them. Alec tells her the Order is after her and a lot of lives will be lost if they get a hold of her. Chloe wants nothing to do with them and tells them to leave her alone, she takes off running back to her house.

The scarred man meets up with some British dude who seems to be the boss and informs him he has found the girl and she is who they thought she is. Scarred face asks what he’s supposed to with the girl. British boss tells me to kill Chloe as many times as he needs to.

Chloe gets out of the shower and Amy comes storming into her room demanding to know where she was, she had called Chloe a thousand times. Chloe asks what’s wrong and Amy tells her she and Paul broke up. They were supposed to meet up but he never showed. Chloe interrupts her telling her she can’t handle her drama right now. Amy wants to know what so important she has going on. Chloe snaps at her and shows her her back but the bruises are gone. She turns and looks at Amy and tells her she thinks she died that day. Amy doesn’t understand. Chloe is about to explain when her phone rings. It’s Paul. Paul tells her there’s someone who wants to talk to her and the scarred face dude gets on the phone. He’s holding Paul hostage and tells Chloe they have unfinished business.

Amy and Chloe drive up to where Paul is being held by the scarred face dude. Chloe tells Amy to keep the car running. Amy doesn’t want her going in there alone. Chloe tells Amy everything will be fine, showing off her catlike claws. Amy screams and Chloe takes off running into the building. Chloe and scarred face dude have a big battle. Alec shows up by scaring the hell out of Amy by jumping onto of her car. Jasmine says they have no time to explain and asks where Chloe is. Amy quickly informs them Chloe is on the second floor. Amy follows after Alec and Jasmine not wanting to be left alone. Alec, Jasmine, and Chloe have an all out battle with scarred face dude. Scarred face dude manages to throw Chloe out the window but she lands on her feet. Amy knocks scarred face dude with a big pole and he goes flying out the window but lands on his feet on top of a dumpster. Alec and Jasmine show up to help. Scarred face dude disappears. Chloe asks if they should go after him, Alec says yes but Jasmine says no, they should consider it lucky they are alive. The scarred face dude shows up and throws some kind of dart like thing at Chloe but Jasmine steps in the way and goes unconscious. Alec tells her he has to take her home to help heal her and tells Chloe she can’t run away from helping them.

Weird British boss dude turns out to be Bryan’s dad.

Jasmine is lying in bed in bandages healing while Alec watches over her.

Chloe’s mom pulls out a box of baby stuff and records she has.

Bryan calls Chloe but she doesn’t pick up.

The episode closes with Chloe’s dad finally writers her back telling her to trust no one and Alec standing outside her house, watching over her.
