Keegan Callaghan knows the taste of loss. Fate has severely tried him; first by taking away his parents when he was but a child, then destiny didn’t spare him the heartache of losing the woman he loved, when she fell victim to vicious killers who were after him.

He is a man, but not human.

At least that’s not all there is to him.

There is a savage side to his nature, a werewolf like creature that most would attribute with folklore or a myth. Troubled by his own animalistic tendencies he has a hard time accepting and haunted by vicious memories, he decides to leave his home in Ireland and move to the US, where his mother was from.

But the quiet town of Chastity Point, Connecticut is not what it seems.

Jade Thorton is trying to lead the life she always dreamed of having. She owns a bakery, has friends, and a loyal dog, which seems to be fully satisfying after the traumatic experience of her childhood that casts a long shadow on her whole life.

The last thing she expects is to find herself thrown back into the past by the events taking part in the small town when blood is being spilled in rural Chastity Point.

The fascination she feels for the mysterious man with eyes full of painful secrets could be her chance for happiness, or her final downfall… (Goodreads)

Review:

Wow, where to begin. I Loved it!  This genre is one of my favorites and I have read many books in it. This story hits all the marks and will be added to my favorites folder.

The Characters were all great, interesting and well thought out. The author took the time to build them up and let the reader get to know them as individuals and as a couple. The relationship didn’t happen in a blink of an eye. Lovely! The unfolding of things was paced perfectly, nothing was rushed.

The writing style was excellent. If I may be so bold, the author has a spicy flavor like Nora Roberts in The Witness, one of my personal favorites, the hotness of  Annmarie McKenna’s Mates series and Elizabeth Lapthorne’s Rutledge Werewolvers. Yet this story has a decidedly different  take on shifters all its own. I’m looking forward to reading more in this awesome world.

A couple of my favorite quotes:

First one has to do with cooking. Yum.

“It was such an intimate and amazing dance when all the ingredients came together in order to create something unique.”

and

“He knew very well that sometimes ties made by choice, rather than blood, were much truer and stronger.”

A couple of tiny things, that I didn’t like, that I felt was the  overuse of the word “Smirk”.  Also, we read about Keegan having sex with his now dead girlfriend in a dream. I don’t mind reading about the “hero” having sex with someone else, if it’s short and not too explicit, but this was a bit more explicit than I personally like. Even with that it’s still a 5 star story for me. I fell in love with the characters, story and writing.

I highly recommend this book for lovers of Shifter stories, with wonderful characters both the main ones and secondary ones with excellent, story telling and lots of hotness. It’s a great story, I can’t wait for the next one in this series. This author will be on my auto buy list.
