Synopsis:

As the firstborn son, it’s been drilled into Nick that he is the heir apparent to the Prince family empire. But cattle ranching has never been his true passion. Nick wants to be a pilot. However, when his father dies, leaving Nick to clean up the mess, he knows he must do his duty before following his heart.

Charlotte Bailey can’t believe that Nick is back to run the ranch. As the office manager, she knows it’s her responsibility to help him. If only he wasn’t so brooding and cranky–and so hot it’s a wonder his chaps don’t melt right off him. But when sparks fly between them, she’s adamant about staying away from a cowboy on his way out the door. Nick knows the ranch’s pretty, smart, and capable office manager is off-limits, but he needs her. And working in such close proximity to Charlotte every day is making Nick crazy. She smells good, she looks good, she makes him laugh, but most of all she makes him want to stay.

Review:

The mysterious Nick Prince finally makes his long awaited appearance! Finally! Book one mentioned him very little and for a moment I feared something would happen to him. He was always mentioned being too busy, somewhat unhappy with his life and would miss events with his family. But author Julia London did not leave fans waiting anymore and finally let readers look into Nick’s mysterious and lonely life in The Billionaire in Boots.

We learn that Nick has been dedicating his new life to fixing the damage left behind by his father’s sudden death and gambling problems. Nowadays, he spends most of his time at the office or on a horse attending to the cattle and helping around the ranch. He no longer has time to fly or go out with friends. His father’s debt keeps piling up resulting in more troublesome to fix than expected. Nick can’t seem to get a break.

Then comes in Charlotte. Nick didn’t expect to work so close with her and have to rely on her knowledge of the office. It all seems like business, but both of them can’t deny that their relationship is more than that of a boss and employee. Too bad Charlotte is looking for a serious relationship, while Nick is looking for a way out of his family. Charlotte has been mentioned in previous books, but her personality and character hadn’t been shown well enough to map her out. Now, in her own story, we learn that she is ready to find someone, get married and start having babies. Her time is running out and the right person is taking their time. She has her goals and dreams set, and won’t wait for anyone anymore. I do have to say that exploring the interactions and chemistry between these two was really fun.

Previous characters and new ones were mentioned, such as Hallie and her newborn baby, Luca and Ella, and my all time favorite, grandma! She’s still going to Walmart and being her usual Prince grandmother. Nick’s mom is also amazing in her way. She is still mourning the loss of her husband, but does not lose her cool. I can’t wait to see her in action in the next book. I have a feeling she will be a big part of it.

“For God’s sake, if you can hold a beer bottle, you can hold a baby. And we all know you can hold a beer bottle.”

The Prince siblings were struggling before their father died. After their father died, they not only struggled with his loss, but they also dealt with the pressure and emotions they had been harboring since they were children. One by one, they matured, changed their goals in life and accepted the death of their father in their own way. Now, it is time for Delia Prince’s story to begin.
