Ethan and Rachel were the first couple to be featured in the KGI series.  You can read their story in The Darkest Hour.  Rachel had been in a plane crash that everyone thought she died in only to be discovered alive a year later, being kept drugged and tortured.  Ethan and Rachel had a lot of issues to work through once they were reunited and her memories started to return.  The two have made short appearances in the other books of the series, but Banks decided to give us a little update on them with this novella.  Time-wise it takes place in the middle of Shades of Gray, after P.J. left her team, but before she comes back.  I would recommend reading this before Shades of Gray though.

There is not a whole lot I can say about this plot without giving everything away since the story is pretty short!  Rachel and Ethan are finally moving into their new house and getting a fresh start!  Their old house has too many painful memories for Rachel so she’s embracing their new start and their future!

Overall, I thought this book was really sappy.  The Kelly family was their usual too good to be true selves and were sugary sweet.  Watch out, you may get a cavity from this one!  That’s not to say this was a bad read.  It left me with a goofy smile on my face.  It truly reminds me of a sitcom where everything is fixed and tied into a nice neat bow and everybody is happy at the end of the thirty minutes.  Not a bad outcome at all and it gives us a glimpse of what’s next for Ethan and Rachel.
