We love Matt Smith as the latest Doctor Who. But what does the guy he replaced as Time Lord think about the job he’s doing? Turns out David Tennant loves Smith just as much as we do.
In an interview with The List, Tennant said:
“Genuinely, I think it’s been brilliant. I’ve loved every second of it. It’s a thrill for me to be watching as a viewer again. I knew Matt was going to be fantastic and he is. He’s a great choice and he’s knocked it out of the park.”
Tennant also stated he had no regrets about moving on.
“It felt right to pass the baton on and for it to continue to thrive,” he said. “I think that was all exactly as I would wish it to be.”
It’s a gracious comment to make, but for my part, I only started watching Dr Who bc of David Tennant. It was a hard show for me to enjoy without rolling my eyes every so often at certain aspects of it. Unfortunately, Matt Smith’s casting made me roll my eyes too along with the new younger companion. I adored Donna and thought her ending monumentally sucked. I guess overall this show didn’t give me enough to keep watching Matt in the role – did it for you?
