Review
There are some secrets that people will do anything and pay any amount to keep. And, professional gossip, Larinda Mars, knew how to mine for those secrets. She had her own show spilling all the celebrity gossip, but blackmail was her side hustle. However, someone decided that their secret was worth killing for. And, it’s up to Eve Dallas to figure out who that person was, and make sure that justice is served.
So, I was able to sum the synopsis of this book up in one paragraph (above). There really wasn’t a lot going on in this book, it was mostly Eve and Peabody going through the massive logs of Mars’s blackmail victims to try to determine who would have the cojones to murder her.
I found this novel … boring. Even the ending wasn’t all that exciting, which made me sad. I think the idea of this book is interesting, it just lost a lot in the execution, unfortunately.
After reading so many of these books, I’m committed to reading until the very end, when Nora Roberts aka J.D. Robb quits writing them. Sadly, I just find that I don’t enjoy them nearly as much as I did in the early installments.
