Colton Knox has been obsessed with Raylee Adams since she walked into his life six years ago.  She’s his step-sister.  His dad warned him off of her the first time they met and told him not to touch her.  And, he was fool enough to listen … for the first year.

“Raylee is the devil in a woman’s body. She’s vindictive, manipulative, and incredibly fucking sexy. It’s a sin really to look that good. And I should be ashamed of how obsessed I’ve become with her.”

When he heard she gave up her virginity to his now ex-friend, Mike, all bets were off.  Mike was an idiot, he freaked out on her and didn’t even finish.  It was up to Colt to figure out what turned her on.  And, what do you know, it turned him on too.

Colt turned Raylee into his good little slut.  The two hate each other, but they can’t say no to their carnal needs.  And, neither have found the pleasure they’ve found with each other with anyone else.

Colt has made sure that Raylee has stayed close to him.  When she started going to Barrington University he offered to have her stay in his house.  Their parents thought he was being a good brother.  If they only knew his true motives.

When Raylee gets into a relationship, it’s Colt that makes sure it ends in disaster.  Speaking of, she’s been with Nate for five weeks now.  The longest he’s ever allowed one of her relationships to last.  It’s time to blow that shit up.

And, it’s time to finally claim Raylee as his.  Whether she likes it or not.

There is some debate on where this book falls in the L.O.R.D.S. series.  Some sites say it’s book four, some don’t list it at all.  At the time I’m writing this, it’s not even on the author’s website.  It slots really nice after book three, The Sacrifice, though.  Colt is not a Lord, but he works for one you already know.  The one featured in The Sacrifice, Tyson.  However, with Colt not being a Lord, I could see why the book could be considered not part of the series, but it’s definitely connected.  And, it would be a shame to miss this one!

Some say there is a thin line between love and hate and that couldn’t be truer for Colt and Raylee.  They love to hate each other.  The sex is off the charts and they hate each other for each craving the other so much.

“I’ve heard people say it’s hard to pinpoint the exact second you fall in love with someone. I’m pretty sure it was the moment I first saw her. And I’ve been falling ever since.”

The banter between these two made this book.  He released a short snippet of a sex tape to stake his claim on her, to let everyone (especially Raylee’s boyfriend) know that she isn’t just his step-sister. But that they have sex too.  She retaliates by setting his precious 3.6-million-dollar custom made Lamborghini Sian on fire.  Normal sibling rivalry, right?

“You gotta look your best when you decide to show your crazy”

And, that is just chapter one, folks.  Her setting his car on fire and everyone’s reaction to it was one of my favorite scenes of the whole book though.

“Raylee’s here.”

I smile at his words, and Amy reaches up, running her hands through my hair. “She’s seen the video.” I knew it wouldn’t take long for her to return from her date.

He laughs, nodding once and still eyeing Amy, who has stopped fucking me. “Oh, she saw it all right. She’s setting your car on fire as we speak.”

“What?” I bark. Shoving Amy away, she falls off the side of the bed to the floor with a thud. “Fuck!”

“I’m sure you deserved it.” Amy laughs, not the least bit upset that I just tossed her aside.”

The morning after when Colt blew the top off of everything with Raylee to Nate was quite entertaining as well.  For everyone, but Raylee and Nate, I guess.  Colt was blowing her relationship to smithereens, but he felt the need to defend her too.  He is a complicated fellow.

“A whore like her will fuck anything,” Nate growls, pointing over at me.

“Obviously.” Colt looks him up and down and then chuckles to himself. “She did fuck you.”

As I’ve already said, Colt is NOT a Lord, but he sure should have been.  He definitely has the cocky and domineering air of one, just not the pedigree required.  His sexual desires are also much like the Lords.  Domination is the name of his game, degrading poor Raylee.  Of course, like the other girls in the series, she gets turned on by being treated that way.

I initially thought Nate was too nice for her, but Colt really pushed him to be quite the villain.  Colt was too cocky to see what he had unleashed and the danger he put the girl he loves in.

I loved everything about this book though.  It was about half the size of the others, so normal book size.  With the shorter book, the story was much more condensed than the others.  I honestly would have liked to have seen a little more.  Colt mentioned in his thoughts about coming out to their parents, and I really would have loved to have seen that scene.  Especially considering his dad had warned him off of her all those years ago.

“Apart, we were our own worst enemy, but together? We’re explosive. An unbeatable team.”

We also didn’t get the years later happily ever after with kids epilogue we got in the other books.  I’m very curious if the future kids will eventually have stories of their own.  Although, there is a risk living in the Lords world to paint some of the parents we loved in a bad light, so I could understand if she doesn’t go that route.Anyway, this book was good.  Short and sweet and I flew through it.  I’m sad it’s over … but … now I can finally read Carnage, which I have been dying to read since the Spade brothers were introduced back in Sin’s book, The Sinner,  … I’m coming, Saint …. (take that however you want).
