RIPLEY’S HAS AUTHENTIC VAMPIRE KILLING KITS FOR EVERY TASTE

There are lots of folks out there making replica vampire killing kits, but the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! museums have the real deal: kits earnestly prepared to combat bloodsuckers and packed with silver bullets, wooden daggers, and anti-vampire potions.

The Ripley’s collection, acquired by Ripley’s VP Edward Meyer, contains 30 authentic vampire killing kits, 26 of which are currently on display in eight Ripley’s museums. Apparently the kits are extremely rare; Meyer says Ripley’s are the only kits on public display and the remaining few reside in private collections.

HARRY POTTER AND THE SEARCH FOR SUPERSTITION: WITCH-HUNTING IN AFRICA

The Center for Inquiry International announced today that a Christian pastor in Nigeria has filed a lawsuit against Leo Igwe, a human rights advocate who has long stood against the violent witch hunts of African children. In July of this year, Igwe was attacked during a “Child Rights and Witchcraft” seminar in Nigeria. I would love to know who owned the morbid yet interesting treasures.  This type of paraphernalia helped shape the myths of killing methods portrayed in movies today; silver bullets, garlic and the like. However, modern times have evolved vampires into sunlight walking, garlic tempered versions of their ancestors, so to rely on any of these old fashioned items would be like relying on a floppy disk to safely store your bank records. In any case, they truly are pieces of art.

I shouldn’t be surprised at such stories of witch-hunting of children in Africa but I am.  People in modern society are so far removed from such ancient thought, it is so utterly hard to grasp. We go about our daily lives wondering when we will get that 60″ plasma t.v. and some poor soul half way around the globe is fighting for their life, over being a witch! That’s why I say, be blessed for what you have, the society in which you live and for the freedoms we take for granted. My heart goes out to those poor souls and hopefully one day the world can be rid of such tyranny.
