Things haven’t been the same for Aspen since her brother died in a car accident a year ago.  Owen was her best friend, some even thought they were twins.  The two had been inseparable.  Now she’s back at Fallen Crest Academy trying to be invisible.

Everything changes when she finds popular hottie Blaise DeVroe in a compromising position and she can’t force herself to look away!  Blaise can’t get her out of his mind and the more he learns about her the more he’s drawn to her.

Both Blaise and Aspen have their own secrets.  Both are a bit damaged by their pasts.  And, they both need each other to heal.

This is another book in the New Adult genre that I’m finding myself really enjoying lately.  And, this is the second novel I’ve read from this author.  I’ve really enjoyed both stories and I need to acquaint myself with even more of Tijan’s work, it seems.

It’s sad how Aspen lost her family.  Her oldest brother moving away, Owen’s death, and then her parents that are just never around.  The staff became her own self-made family and knew more of what was going on than any of her blood relatives.

I enjoyed Blaise.  Of course, I did, I love my cocky confident guys in my books, after all.  And, his family life was plenty messed up with the whole who’s the daddy drama and the abuse he endured in the past.  It was nice to see him find someone who grounded him, and I feel he did the same for Aspen as well.  I’m glad this book touched on the effects abuse takes on a family mentally and showed what Blaise and his family had to go through to work through their issues.  I also liked that Blaise’s abuser got his ass kicked too.

This novel had a nice sweet ending and left me wanting to read the books about the other characters as well!  So it’ll only be a matter of time before I get my hands-on Tijan’s Crew books that appear to go along with this title.  This story will have to tide me over until then though.
