Okay – MTV just did ‘What if Twilight were made in the 80’s?’ And really, I loved the cast they did. But it made me think about ‘Why 80’s?’ What if Twilight had been published during the time Hollywood was the biggest movie-mecca worldwide – what if ‘Twilight’ was made in the 50’s – with all of the really grand and unique Hollywood actors? That’s why I decided to do something a cast for ‘Twilight happening during the 50’s’. I hope you enjoy it!

Let’s start with the leading actress – Bella Swan.
The books describes her as clumsy with a slight figure and brown hair and eyes. According to what I know she will become during the saga there was only one picture in my head:
Grace Kelly (Gracia Patricia)
She was an unknown actress becoming a big Hollywood star and at least she was married to Prince Renier of Monaco … I think she is perfect for playing Bella – turning from a wallflower to a princess.






The second important role – Edward Cullen.
So – for myself there is only one (!!!) male actor who fits perfect to this role – because he was as torn in his real life as Edward is in the books:
James Dean
And he also was very mysterious and sexy and hot. He loved beautiful and fast cars, too – sadly that finally was his destiny and he died much too early.





Let’s go on with the Cullen-family – next one is Alice Cullen.
The quirky fashion queen of the series – good friend of Bella and foreseeing sister of Edward – what do you think about
Shirley MacLaine
A very unique and beautiful actress, not really tall and always dressed up very stylish.








And if we talk about Alice we also have to talk about her mate – Jasper Hale.
An adorable guy who was biten by vampire girls during the war. He has a lot of scars and he is able to manipulate the emotions of those around him. For me
Tony Curtis
is perfect for playing the man next to Alice. He is charming and a real gentleman. Also he isn’t supposed to be the center of attraction and he loves to be with wonderful girls.



Here is the other Hale – Rosalie Hale. Remember, Rose is described as the most gorgeous girl on this world. And what do you think who was the most beautiful girl in the 50’s? Right!
Marilyn Monroe
She is blonde, she is amazing, she has the perfect body and she knew how she affected people by her look.










And who could be the best ‘Monkey-Man’ for Rosalie? Who do you think I want to play Emmett Cullen? I’m thinking of a wonderful man with dark hairswho is as funny and sporty as Emmett should be. I’m thinking of Elvis Presley.
He did so many hilarious movies I think he is at least as cute as Emmett. Yes, he was also a great singer – in other words: THE KING! but is there any hint that Emmett is not able to sing? And I really think Elvis was as relaxed and laid back as Emmett has to be.



The Cullen family is not complete without a mother – Esme Cullen – and last but not least the coven ‘creater’: Carlisle Cullen. For both of them I didn’t have to think long.
Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant
Audrey is young but caring – she loves everybody and everybody loves her. And for me, Cary is the perfect Doctor and Dad.
And obviously they are a wonderful couple.




So, who else do we need? Oh yes – we definitely need Jacob Black! And the three nomad-vamps James, Victoria and Laurent. And we should also cast Charlie Swan, Jessica Stanley, Angela Webber, Mike Newton and Eric Yorkie.

Charlie Swan – Bella’s dad. Easy for me – just one second of thinking and here he is:
Clark Gable
A wonderful man with a moustache.















The three villians – James, Victoria and Laurent. Victoria was not easy to cast – but finally I think I found the perfect actors.
Marlon Brando (James), Jane Russel (Victoria) and Sidney Poitier (Laurent)



Bella’s school friends were no problem to me – I imagine Jessica Stanley and Angela Webber played by
Rita Hayworth (Jessica) and Doris Day (Angela)



Mike Newton and Eric Yorkie should be played by
Jack Lemmon (Mike) and Frank Sinatra (Eric)



And finally here is the cute Quileute-boy who becomes Bella’s best friend – Jacob Black.
He gave me the biggest headache, because I can’t imagine anybody from the 50’s playing this role. A cute indian boy with dimples and muscles and so gorgeous.
But finally I decided to go for Johnny Weissmüller
Yes, he is not really native, but … please look at this body …
