NEW MOON BOOK CLUB: CHAPTER 11 – CULT

Chapter 11 Cult
By: ifellhard

Summary:
Bella has spent the last several days freaking out and worrying about the prospect of Victoria finding her and killing her or Charlie.  She’s worried about endangering her friends and her family.  Jacob is still avoiding Bella and she feels that he’s safer that way since he won’t be where Victoria or Laurent are when they catch up with her. As she’s driving home from school, she concludes that Sam finally got to Jacob and that he’s a part of Sam’s “cult” now.  Bella decides to head out to La Push for an intervention to rescue Jacob.  She calls Charlie to share her concerns.  Charlie is unshaken because Billy speaks so highly of Sam and Sam has never given him any trouble.  He also tells Bella that he’s got a case of two tourists who went missing off of a trail.  There were tracks and blood this time.  Bella thinks of Laurent and imagines that he managed to outrun the wolves.

Bella calls Jacob and Billy tells her that he’s with friends.  She heads out to La Push, determined to wait for him.  She sees Quil along the way and gives him a ride.  Quil confides to her that he’s afraid he’ll be next.  Bella goes on to Jacob’s house and waits in her truck for him to come home.  Jacob shows up and asks her what she’s doing there.  Bella notes a radical difference in his appearance, including his newly cropped hair.  His biggest difference was in his expression – unfriendly and dark.  Bella sees the others from Sam’s cult behind him, including Sam.  She wishes to herself that she could be something who would scare Sam.  She wished that she was a vampire, bringing back memories that she did not want to face.
