TV NEWS FOR SEPTEMBER 16TH, PART 1: ‘DEAD SET’ ZOMBIES, SCI FI PROPS, DOCTOR WHO, AND FALL TV SHOW INFO

E4′s ‘Dead Set’ Finally Makes Its Way To American TV

By Mark O. Estes at TV Overmind

Think The Walking Dead will be TV’s first foray into zombiedom? Think again.

What happens when you take UK’s über popular version of Big Brother and add zombies? The answer is Dead Set, E4′s insanely epic zombie show that aired during the week of Halloween in 2008. (Trailer includes graphic images)

The show was so outstanding, it dominated my thinking process for that entire week ad nauseam. Seriously. I didn’t think TV could get away with such gore, but this is UK television where there are no boundaries. But that’s beside the point. The point of the matter is that my fellow Americans will be able to view this extraordinary show courtesy of IFC this Halloween before the debut of that “other zombie show.”

These days, such a crappy remake would never fly. In these technology-graced times, diehard TV and film collectors expect the replicas they spend their hard-earned money on to be worth every penny. So a Los Angeles-based firm employing some of the greatest prop makers and artists in the United States and Europe is stepping in to help: Quantum Mechanix (QMx) is led by Andy Gore, a collector himself.
