How SGU Can Find Its Charm: Bring Back Michael Shanks

By Meredith Woerner at io9

This week Stargate Universe opened up Rush’s brain and what we found was a mix of light code, lens flares and the first ever balanced SGU episode. Thank goodness Stargate veteran Michael Shanks is back and delivering some much-needed charm.

Having magical Shanks on board to help Rush get through his memory knowledge download was not only a bit of classic Gate fan-service, but Shanks really shed a bit of light on another thing SGU is missing, charisma. Shanks, RDA, Southern Shanks (or Cameron as some of you call him), Sheppard heck even Carter all have a certain spark of charisma that is just lacking on SGU. The only person I’ve cheered for out loud is Young. And his charm comes and goes. You may argue that this series is attempting to be more realistic and there aren’t heroes in real life. But you shouldn’t have to sacrifice charm for flaws.

Syfy is hoping that Stephen King will lead the network to another summer hit when it premieres “Haven” this summer.

Based on King’s novella “The Colorado Kid,” the series stars Emily Rose (“ER”) as an FBI agent who arrives in a small Maine town to solve the murder of a local ex-con. Her natural curiosity eventually leads her to discover that the town, Haven, is an enclave for people with a remarkable range of supernatural abilities.

Although the agent, Audrey Parker, will solve mysteries every week, her back story will develop over the course of the season.

‘True Blood’ Waiting Sucks Promo: Sookie

via Ace Showbiz

Back in March, fans of “True Blood” were introduced to a featurette which teased a scene of Eric bleeding. HBO has now released a new “Waiting Sucks” promo where we got the answer of which Merlotte’s employee dared to shoot the vampire. The shirtless guy in the first promo, however, is not featured in this one.

Surprisingly it’s Sookie who fired the gun and wounded Eric. This would be one question to be answered in the new season which starts June 13.

I love Micheal Shanks. Or rather I love Dr. Jackson, so anything to get more of him on screen is fine with me. I actually haven’t watched the latest SGU, so I don’t know what’s going on. Haven actually sounds pretty good too, so I’ll have to check it out.

What do you think of the True Blood promo?
