LEONARDO DICAPRIO IN THE RUNNING FOR RIDDLER ROLE

Inception co-stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Tom Hardy are reportedly battling it out to land the role of The Riddler in the upcoming Batman movie.

Speculation has been rife about which actors will join Christoper Nolan’s third superhero film ever since The Dark Knight hit cinemas in 2008.

Megan Fox, Angelina Jolie, Cher and Kate Beckinsale have all been linked to the possible revival of feline femme fatale Catwoman, while Shia LaBeouf, Johnny Depp and Eddie Murphy are also rumoured to be attached to the picture.

And the latest names to be associated with the blockbuster are the stars of box office hit Inception.

PAUL WS ANDERSON INTERVIEW; RESIDENT EVIL AFTERLIFE

Writer/director Paul W.S. Anderson talked to us at Comic Con about his upcoming film, “Resident Evil: Afterlife.” The 3D science fiction action horror movie is the fourth installment in a series of film adaptations based on Capcom’s survival horror video game series Resident Evil and stars Milla Jovovich, Ali Larter and Wentworth Miller. Resident Evil: Afterlife is the first movie shot with Avatar’s cameras since Avatar. It’s also the first 3D film to be shot outside of the studio and to be edited fully in 3D.

Paul talked to us about how using 3D cameras outside a motion capture stage led to all sorts of malfunctions, how it was helpful to the technology to go through that troubleshooting process, and why as a filmmaker he’s so excited about working on the cutting edge of technology.

Super hero movies: we all love them, we all watch ‘em. However, there are some films out there either so awful, or so unsuccessful that they failed to so much as launch a sequel. Yes, we’re well aware that Batman and Robin andSpider-man 3 should be on this list, but we’re talking about films which killed a franchise’s future well before it even had a chance to begin. These are our picks, but we’re open to more suggestions.

DEAD SPACE MOVIE TO BE A PREQUEL?

Another prequel movie (in addition to Dead Space: Downfall) to go along with EA’s successful sci-fi horror title Dead Space? It certainly looks that way.

Director D.J. Caruso (Eagle EyeDisturbia) spoke with MTV News about the Dead Space feature film adaptation that he is attached to direct. Caruso revealed a few details about the timeline of the film.

“We’ve got a really good sort of storyline,” Caruso revealed. “It’s almost a prequel, sort of, to where the game picks up.”

It’s one of those things where the storytelling of it and trying to get into the prequel is a challenge,” Caruso said of the film’s script. “You have have the whole sort of brainwash-y/Scientology thing and ultimately the Necromorphs. It’s interesting to try to get the major studios to understand that this isn’t Event Horizon.”
