No more rumors, no further suggestions, no more questions about who will play Bruce Banner in The Avengers. Mark Ruffalo, who famously went on something like 800 auditions before landing his first film role, has accepted Marvel’s offer to be the alter-ego to The Incredible Hulk when Avengers finally arrives in two years.

“Marvel made a pittance of an offer to Edward Norton to continue in the role,” observes Deadline. “But it caught the actor by surprise that the studio decided to replace him altogether with no advance warning. Like Norton, Ruffalo would bring real chops to the role. But, unlike Norton, he won’t be an on-set asshole.”

Did you catch that bootleg video made at the premiere of the Captain America: First Avenger teaser trailer that was shown at San Diego Comic-Con? Were you thrilled by the WWII superhero action, the Samuel L. Jackson cameo as Nick Fury, the cheers of the crowd in Hall H? Did you wish you were there? Well … you couldn’t have been. Because it never happened.

According to Brendon Connelly of bleedingcool, the clip is cobbled together from pieces of Hellboy, The Wolfman, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2 and more. But strangely, it’s not presented as a fan film, or a tribute of some kind, but titled “Captian [sic] America: The First Avenger” COMIC-CON TRAILER at 07/23/10.”

Look, I was AT Comic-Con on July 23. And this trailer wasn’t.
