HERE ARE A FEW TIPS FOR BOOSING HOLLYWOOD’S SALES

This is a real no-brainer.
The new “re-imagining” of “Alice in Wonderland” has already made back its reported $200 million production budget — and that’s just with the brisk ticket sales in the United States.
Given that and the popularity of that film’s star, it seems like it should be obvious — someone needs to get Depp and director Tim Burton to make their long-rumored movie adaptation of the beloved Gothic soap opera “Dark Shadows” now.
Vampires. Johnny Depp. What else would you need to make about a kazillion dollars?
Of course, knowing Hollywood executives, they’ll attribute the success of “Alice” solely to the 3D format. Speaking of which, isn’t it time for theater owners to pony up the bucks for more 3D screens?
It’s clear that 3D is here to stay, yet the number of available screens to show films in that format is limited.

THE CASTING gossip for Captain America has taken yet another twist with claims that Kellan Lutz and Alexander Skarsgaard are under consideration.
Chris Evans has been offered the role of the patriotic supersoldier but so far no deal has been done and no announcement made.
Evans is likely to be considering the terms of the contract, which would pay a relatively-low $300,000 for appearing as the hero in nine Marvel Studios films – up to three Captain America movies, the Avengers team-up film plus any other superhero adventures.

The ‘tips for boosting Hollywood’s sales’ made me giggle a bit, although that does seem to be the way the tides are turning these days – remakes and reimaginings seem to be all the rage. In some instances it’s awesome, in others, not so much. What do you think?
